If racial intermarriage is wrong....

    I don't think there are pure races of people anymore. And I don't think interracial marriage is wrong. I beleive it is becoming more and more common to marry someone who looks like a different race to the popint most people don't even think of it anymore. Unless your talking balck and white, which they'll never stop seeing.

    I didn't watch it either - when it came out, I wasn't allowed. But that was the impression I got -- that he hated everyone.

    The idea that interracial marriage is wrong or a sin has pretty well died out or will soon.

    What was patronizing about it? I am not sure what other thread you are upset about because I was not a part of that one.
    I was simply answering the opening post. My point was that if someone was convinced that interacial marriage (which I don't think is usually wise but I won't condemn anyone for) was in fact wrong and were of mixed blood so to speak, they could probably find a similarly "mixed" person.

    I actually met a guy once who believed interracial maraige was wrong because according to him, black people couldn't get saved and therefore you would be getting married to an ubeliever.
    He said that if you believed it was wrong to marry a black person then there was no other way to say it was wrong.

    I think he went the wrong way with his reasoning there.

    He was a nice enough guy but that is downright heresy if you ask me.

    Biracial? I think most americans have 3 or four races :)

    I think you're right, Pamela, but I don't expect the individual(s) in question will ever post anything that alludes to their racist beliefs again.

    If racial intermarriage were wrong;
    and if and African/Native-American marries a White/East-Asian
    -- that would be a sin. But if the African/Native-American
    marries another African/Native-American -- than that
    wouldn't be a sin.

    I always wondered, if racial intermarriage were wrong,
    would it be ONE BIG SIN or lots of daily sins?
    Can the sin of racial intermarriage be undone by
    the sin of divorce?

    The whole exercise shows what a folly it is to
    assume that racial intermarriage is wrong.

    I found out recently from my mom, who is in her early 70's, that when her father, who was a so called Methodist radio preacher and a very poor father figure for her family of siblings, came to visit her after she had married my father, she was concerned that he would turn right back around and leave when he found out that she had married someone who wasn't white. He didn't, surprising to her, and he stayed with us a few days. I remember a photo I had of him with me and my sister.

    Knowing my parents were not the same race, growing up in mixed cultures, I know that sin isn't "being married and being different races." There are a lot of other things in marriage that can be wrong, but it isn't different races.

    There is a lot to be said for love.
    And commitment. And concern

    Where in the world did you get the idea that interracial marriage is wrong???? Marriage is to be between a man and woman you love each other. Why would race come into it?
