We arent supposed to print out the entire story, so here is part of it with a link...

Later in the article it said they duct taped the puppies mouth shut to keep it quiet.

It makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about this. The cruelty and depravity in our world these days is just beyond comprehension.

If I remember what some psychologists said, those two are potential psychopath killers.

I'll bet they'll come up with the defense that they are abused kids....again. Ho-hum.

It is good enough for them, should have been 20 years. People who do that to animals will progress to humans eventually. We have always had pets, dogs, cats, birds, etc. both inside and out. While I do not subscribe to advanced expensive medical procedures for them, they should be loved and cared for. It is beyond me why anyone would want to mistreat one.

Two candidates for the death penalty as far as I am concerned. Anyone who gets pleasure out of seeing any living thing suffer is too far gone. Reprobate and not able to be rehabilitated. Jeffery Dahmer started out this way.

    yeah, that's what they say.

Dahmer did. I think John Wayne Gacy also started out with animals, and also that Russian guy who not only killed, but ate his victims. Forgot his name.

    From the article:
One of the best ways to rehabilitate is to pull out the old whippin belt, but if these boys were raised like other kids of today they were probaly raised without a father or a father figure.

Cruelty is the way very stupid people get thrills. Most of us, by the time we are four or five, realize that cruelty causes pain in others and we avoid it.

These guys are extremely dangerous. Unfortunately, they'll eventually get out of prison. But the need to be watched.

That's because we can empathize with others.....even people we don't like or animals that we don't like. "Normal" people, even as you say at 4 or 5 (and probably younger), are able to internalize the grief and pain of others into our own psyche and in some respects, share in the grief and pain of others.

Therefore, just as we would instinctively desire for our own pain and suffering to stop, we have a yearning for the pain and suffering of others to stop - even those we don't love.

One of the hallmarks of a sociopathic person is the absolute inability to empathize with others. The suffering of the rest of humanity and the animal kingdom means literally nothing to them.

If they are clinical sociopaths, which I don't know, I haven't read the article because I can't bring myself to do so......but if they are clinically sociopathic, then they will be dangerous for the rest of their lives.

    Can they be saved? Yes.

    Treated with medications? Yes.

    Rehabilitated? Yes.

    Cured? No.

    Healed by Christ? Yes.

I have a dog. The worlds greatest little dog. :) (just like everyone elses dog is the worlds greatest, to them  ) Mines a Jack Russell Terrier. I'm looking across the room at her right now.

I just cant get the thought out of my mind of that little puppy, mouth duct taped shut, scratching and clawing at the oven door as it gets hotter and hotter. And those monsters were having the time of their lives. Its beyond comprehension to me how anyone can be so cruel to one of these trusting little creatures.

Theres a part of me...not one of the better parts of me I guess...that could just rip those 2 guys apart limb by limb. I get the same feeling when one of these child abductions happen and it hits the news. They eventually find the little girl or boy murdered, and the parents will never be the same. This is not as bad in the sense of it not being a human being, but again...I'm an animal lover. To me its 95% as bad. I've had dogs, cats, hamsters, a squirrel once.(took peanuts right out of my hand) These little creatures are creations of God, and they have feelings and emotions like we do.

My eyes welled up typing the 2nd paragraph of this post. And all night long I cant walk past my little dog without petting her real good. And she's never gotten so many treats before.

Seems to be more passion here than when an innocent human being is beheaded by a radical islamist.

Despite the other comments you got, you have a point. But I think there is a reason behind that. A puppy is guilty of what? Being a puppy? It is absolutely helpless to defend itself and totally dependant upon the people who have it.

With terrorism, as horrid as it is, it is between/among human beings. There is much more a sense of 'equality' about it -- us against them, or vice versa. But poaching, animal abuse and the like have everything to do with the fact that we were given dominion over this world and some are sadistically abusing that.

The other point is that we are getting saturated with reports of terrorist attacks and there is a tendency to say "oh, again?" We tend to forget these are mothers and fathers and children who are being killed by suicide bombers. People out shopping and such. Personally, I think the press is much to blame for this. How often do we hear of any good our troops are doing? How much do we hear about the infrastructure being slowly restored in Iraq, for instance? We hear only the negative, and that's certainly another thread!

But the point is that we do tend to get saturated with this constant barrage of human death and destruction.

But animal torture and abuse rarely makes the news. So when it does, there is a fresh shock in all of us regarding the depths to which human cruelty can go. And a further shock at the age of the perpetrators. We 'see' that little puppy scratching to be let out so desperately. And our hearts break.

But we are 'shown' the depravity of humans one for another, and we have gotten a bit calloused regarding these thoughts and pictures.

To my mind, that is upside down, but I understand why and how it has happened.

Or when an innocent Muslim is tortured by a sadistic interogator.

    Helen, I think you're right.
