The prebate would be the nightmare.

The current system is inefficient, but it is established. It would be nothing short of a complete overhaul to retool the existing system.

Additionally, most states have an income tax. The fair tax wouldn't change this. Employers would still have to report income to the state governments, and individuals would have to endure state sales tax as well. Unfortunately, without the IRS, income reporting would become even more complex, forcing states either to increase their sales tax (with no guarantee of a "prebate") or to invest in additional reporting methods.

Most states have a sales tax now. I doubt it is an administrative nightmare.

No state does anything like the "prebate."

It will also get rid of the IRS. Then a whole bunch of libbies will have to get other jobs. Maybe they can get jobs with collections agencies so they can continue to feed their need to call and harass people over money.

Even if it the fair, flat or electronic tax, you will still need the IRS. Granted, all these alternatives would mean less paperwork, but it would not be completely gone.
But remember the electronic tax is the easiest to deal with.

I still say abolish the IRS & some of the other bureaucracies which are getting our tax dollars. Eliminating them would free up alot of money that the government could use.

While 10% is a low number, I still believe that the government could function sufficiently. I also still believe in the national sales tax. It puts you in control of how much you pay. If you have personal beef with something that our federal government has done, all you have to do is boycott certain items to avoid paying the taxes.

I also hear liberals complaining about those that make alot of money not paying their "fair share". With this form of taxation, there would be no way to avoid paying it. There would be no loop holes. If a rich person were to go out & purchase a yacht, a limo, & other extravagant stuff, they would pay the same taxes that we would pay.

Its already bad enough that we make retailers collect sales taxes for the states now we want to make them collect for the Federal government too? No. The flat tax is the way to go. Everyone pays their tax either monthly or quarterly. Online or snail-mail. No payroll deduction. When people have to pay their own taxes and mail them in to the IRStheir own you will see the house and Senate change to Republican overnight. Employers shouldnt be tax collectors and neither should retailers.

The retailers would not be tax collectors. It (the electronic tax) would all be done electronically. No extra work by the store. The taxes would automatically be credited to the account of the US.
