    King James Bible

    . . .

But since I already have more, I choose three:

    NIV 1984
    NRSV
    KVB

At first I thought you were repeating yourself. What is the KVB?

At the moment, yes. I have been slowly investigating the subject for some time now.

So you wish to rely on a more modern textual basis. I'm for the older texts.

I wish to study the issue thoroughly. It is reasonable to suppose that a more ancient MSS is closer to the original reading because it dates closer to the autographs, but it is equally reasonable to suppose that an older MSS is not a good copy of the autograph.

Age alone is not sufficient to determine the original reading.

I like my Greek to English translation. This one is a straight translation from Greek to English without adding grammatical clearity. It is a word for word translation.
To use in the pulpit when I preavh I use the KJV and but I will on occasion to clearify a point use the straight Greek to english version.

Sounds interesting, but what is that translation actually called, and who publishes it? (Unless by "my Greek to English Translation" you mean a translation you made yourself :) )

Well it doesn't add any grammatical clearity. That's good for preavhing!

And we all know that Greek and English have a 1-1 correspondence.

I think he means he has an interlinear.

It is back home right now I'll try and remember to get it and see who publishes it. It really shows the light of scripture without all the added grammatical help.

KJV. Definitely KJV. I have recently returned to it from being in the quagmire of modern versions for a number of years.

Probably NASB. While overly literal at times, I'd rather default to that. The ESV or NRSV would be a close second.
