I think another key point is understanding Jesus work

    1. He live a perfect, righteous, sinless, and obedient Life
    2. He died on the cross and paid for sin and took on the wrath of God for our sin
    3. He rose on the 3rd day after the work was completed

Jesus didnt only die for our sin and take on our wrath, but a forgotten part of the Gospel is that He fulfilled our righteousness in His life. We literally have the entire work of Christ done in our place as He has taken our entire lives and atoned for it all.

Here is the fruit of it

    1. One is free from the Law of God and is not required to keep it for salvation. The natural fruit of repentance and faith is to turn to Christ and practice righteousness. We turn from sin to God and this includes hating our old life of sin and sin itself. This is the general outcome, although as I learn more and get closer to God I tend to see my failings more and more and thus my need for Him.

    2. It is wrong to say that if a person confesses Christ and still loves and lives a sinful lifestyle then that is not a good sign, although we cant be quick to judge thanks to Solomon and Lot.

    3. If one is truly saved they are NOT required to keep the Law or do good works for their forgiveness. Our works have nothing to do with it. We are under God's grace and are free from the Law that binds us hand and foot. We cannot focus on the Law to keep the Law, but by Faith working through Love for Christ we will see fruit of the good works of the Law.

    4. So if we hold faith and works for salvation as Catholics do. And this is their statement, then we are parting our focus between Christ and His Law when it must be totally on Christ.

I'll give you a pass on the rest of your post.. because we will not agree, especially the Romans 8 part.. we are a creature.. (created).. notice that it says that no creature can separate us...

I want to comment on this quote...
Then I want to ask you a question

Yes, Jesus was full of grace.. but the Catholic Bible mistranslated the "found favor" or was "highly favored" into "full of Grace" because the Catholics believes that obtaining grace is a gradual process moving from sacrament to sacrament.. but because Mary was "full of grace" she didn't need to be saved.

I was hoping you would see this....

    Ok, here is a question...
Are you saying that if Billy-Bob gets saved.. truly saved.. and then commits adultery he quits being saved?...Until he repents.. and would go to hell if he didn't repent?
    OR
Are you saying that if Billy-Bob gets saved, and then commits adultery he must have never been saved in the first place?

I need to know what you truly believe.

The New American Bible (the Catholic Bible) translates the passage thus, "And coming to her, he said, "Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you."

Thanks Aaron.. didn't know that.. I just know the "Hail Marys" that a Catholic prays using the Rosary goes as follows and is built off the D.R. Version

"Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen."

And my uncle that converted from RC. told me once that the "Full of Grace" meant she was perfectly complete in all the works of Grace.

If I do not confess that sin and repent then I have abandoned the faith and I will be lost. I lean more toward Free Will Baptist theology. I believe that we can abandon the faith and the proof that we have abandoned it is revealed in our choices. Do we choose grace or sin. If I am am so bold as to sin and not ask God to forgive me and I am so bold as to not seek repentance than I have abandoned the Faith and will not be saved.

"IF we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us" 1 John 1:9-10

One cannot ignore scripture or twist it. There are sins that are deadly and sins that are not. Adultery is a grave sin and can lead to death of the soul. Stealing $10 from my neighbor is a sin but it is not deadly.
    See 1 John 5:16-17

If a believer continues in this sin is he really a believer? If he confesses that sin and vows to God to change then he is a believer. I am not hearing this on this website. What I am hearing is that believers can sin, without repentance, and they will be saved. Where is the gospel? Confessing and asking God for forgiveness is a part of belief. KNowing that we cannot continue in sin is a fruit of a living faith.
Again, where is asking God for forgiveness? If we have a living, saving faith then we will recognize that we must confess to God. We must ask for forgiveness. I am not hearing that here. When I asked TinyTim can you commit adultery and be saved, the answer was yes. The gospel answer is yes, IF I confess and repent otherwise I do not have a true saving faith. I have deceived myself into believing that I do

Again, that is a very RCC sounding statement. Kinda like "venial" and "mortal".

Can you explain what you mean by that?

    James 2:10 (King James Version)

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

If THAT hogwash is what your pastor is preaching.. find another church.. I bet your pastor goes by "Father so n so"..

Sorry.. but that is not Baptist nor biblical

If a pastor of a Baptist church where I was a member would preach that stuff.. I would move to pull his ordination.. because that is Roman Catholic heresy 101...

YOU are not a Baptist but a RC troll.

Well, the Scripture you posted supports the idea that we can be sinners and saved. But that's OK.

You do realize you disagree with your church who's statement of beliefs you promoted, right?

Isaiah 64:6 says, "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags, and we all do fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."

Some will write that off as being Old Testiment and no longer true or in effect, but it is still scripture. Of course, many things in the OT ARE no longer in effect--like stoning people. However, since God does not change (just the times and customs), the words "our righteousnesses are as filthy rags" is still true.

God does not accept or recognize our best as being sufficient for salvation. If we are born again, then He will bless us for our good works done in His name and for His glory.

Good works done for His glory are what the Bible calls "gold, silver and precious stones," Anything done for self or for the hope of earning God's forgiveness or salvation are "wood, hay and stubble" and will be burned up as useless.

It is beyond my comprehension that anyone would read this story and assign this young lady to eternal torment based upon her religious affiliation without knowing her personally or her views of salvation or actual personal beliefs.

Amen brother! I am amazed at the judgemental attitude and lack of charity shown by some people in this thread.

Well, no one is assigning her anywhere except God.

But there is no evidence of faith written in the article at all. If she had saving faith, that's wonderful. But just doing nice things doesn't make one saved. I personally could not judge where she is but if she was counting on her good deeds to get her there, I could place a pretty good guess as to where she is.

Get real. She was Catholic, wasn't she? That says alot about her view of salvation and actual personal beliefs.

Her affiliation offers no hope for her salvation.

Questions like this always worry me. It seems that a whole discussion here has developed around the question of whether this poor unfortunate young woman was saved or not. Whenever I hear of such things the words of our Lord in Luke 13 come to mind.
Why I wonder do we speculate on the salvation of those who do good work in the community and not on those who do wickedly?
Our Lord took the curiosity of those who speculated on whether those unfortunate people who died a violent death were more wicked than others because they died so and turned it back upon the curious and told them rather to look to themselves. This young woman's salvation is between her and God. It is sacred ground and nothing to do with us.

Jon-Marc have you ever read Isaiah 64? It is talking about apostate Jerusalem. This verse applies to their sinful ways. It has nothing to do with us. Context, context, context.
Look at the verse right before the one you posted.
"Thou meetest him that joyfully works righteousness, thou that remember thee in thy ways"

We are not filthy rags. " For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

I concur, although there are several proclaimed Baptists who have said that one can lose salvation by sinning (which would contradict the "salvation by faith alone" position they claim to hold to). We usually refrain from accusing them of heresy, however.

So you're saying that man is inherently good and that he can do righteous works without Christ?
