How many times do we tell someone this, only to find that the next time we see them, we realize we never prayed for them.

Convicted on this topic many years ago by an evangelist who stated, "I go to many churches in a years time, many of which are repeated visits. I am told by so many people that they will pray for me." So he would ask, will you really?

Our Barnabas, here on this board, has found a way that I have also adopted. When someone asks for prayer, he prays immediately, not putting it off. That way when he says he will or is or has been praying, it is true.

I have adopted this myself now, so that when someone asks for prayer here on the net, that is immediately what I do. In person, I offer to pray at that moment, no matter where we are.

Because you are right -- we don't remember. And the guilt can build.

When someone asks for prayer, they usually mean now anyway, not in a week or a month or a year...

I have a little book I take with every where.
If someone asks me to pray for them I write them down in my book and when I have my still time I put it in my big book.

I also pray for the on the spot.

You should see some of the people when I do this.

And that is why I don't say "I'll pray for you" I say "I just prayed for you" I pray before I say it...because for me, I know that "out of sight out of mind"...if I don't write a note... I won't remember.

    Helen... I have January 6th on my calendar...my note so I won't forget. ;)

My daily devotions are taken from Scripture Union notes. There is space on each page for prayer requests, and I write each one in that booklet. The information is readily available at prayer time.

I commonly say to people: The most effective prayer is the one you say, but I will offer a booster.

    Cheers,

    Jim
