It is far too common for a "Fundamental Baptist" to get the idea that he/she is more fundamental than anyone else. This forum is less than a day old and already there have been attacks and accusations aimed at each other. At one point regarding the presentation of the gospel. (I agree with the "repentance" aspect by the way) But the point is, we'll never be able to post without conflict. It will evolve into what every other forum in this Board is. The Fundamental crowd will post their views and the Liberal crowd will questions them and visa-versa. The only difference is this, you will post an opinion and then someone who is not quite as Fundamental as you will come along and question it. Or someone more Fundamental than you will come along and chide you for being too liberal.

I consider myself to be a Fundamental Baptist but that does not mean that I have to isolate myself from all others who may have an opposing opinion.
John 17:15 "I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil."

I am fundamental but I cannot watch only fundamental TV shows. That's why we have no TV in our home. (See, I told you I was more fundamental than you. ;)

I say, if you're a Fundamental Baptist, then simply post your Fundamental philosophies and let the "chips fall where they may." If you're looking for a forum "where seldom is heard a discouraging word," I'm here to tell you, a Fundamental Forum is not the answer.

I am Fundamental. My wife is Fundamental. But even we can't agree on everything.

I believe the difference to be that while I agree you and I and others will differ we will make our stand on the fact that the Bible is truly God's word. I think we do agree on that don't we and thus when we debate we do have an absolute to anchor our post on. Don't give up just yet Bob that is what satan wants.

OK everybody. Let's take a breath and think about this. I agree with you Murph...and definitely see PastorBob's point. I don't think PTW meant what he said in an inflammatory way. He did say with respect. I know I say some things sometimes, that I mean well, or even at times tongue in cheek, and it is take wrong. I think wisdomseekers comment was great, and I'd go soulwinning with you anytime. Let's keep this going, I know it drives the devil crazy....and the liberals too. [IMG] Oh yeah, I'm not equating liberals with the devil. [IMG]

Bob, I can understand your concern and objections. I posted what I did regarding repentance because without repentance, no salvation took place.

The idea behind this forum is to discuss issues and not question the source.

In the abortion and homosexual threads, an appeal to the Bible doesn't further the argument with the lost because they don't accept the Scriptures as absolute truth. We all do so at least we can compare and sometimes even argue about meaning and interpretation.

You wouldn't stop going to a fundamentalist church just because there is disagreement in some areas would you?

Is that because the devil's theology is more sound? [IMG] [IMG]

    I couldn't help myself.

Ah, now we're getting somewhere. So we see that even Satan would be considered "fundamental", and thus could post here. So who exactly are you trying to keep out???

Well, I say I think it can work. We just need to get a moderator in here and quick.

I don't mind if someone gives me a different perspectives on what I say. I've learned a lot on the B.B., It's too bad that more posts are of a non-educational, non-edifying nature... just have to wade through them, and try not to add to them I guess.

Yes, some people forget to be courteous and respectful when they disagree. When they completely lose control of their temper, I just try to pass by what they say...without reading it so I don't respond in kind... I try to follow the admonisions on how to treat people found in the Bible.

I don't think you can get an accurate assessment of if something will work or not in one or two days... let's wait and see before abandoning ship shall we?

I remind y'all that we have various forums already in existence where we can beat up on each other. Translations and Versions and CvA come to mind the quickest. I believe we need to focus on what it is that separates us from the crowd.
A Believer can be orthodox in his theology but not a Fundamentalist. (I give you Francis Schaffer as an example.)

Okay, time for me to take off my "mild mannered BB contributor" hat and put on my "Official Baptist Board Administrator" hat.

Even though we have not, as yet, selected a Moderator for this forum, the BB Administrators still have Moderator powers in all BB forums, so let me flex my Administrator muscles a bit.

This forum is to discuss issues of importance to fundamentalists from a fundamental viewpoint. We will disagree on those issues, but what we will not disagree on is the authority of the bible to settle such issues. We may differ on interpretation of what the bible says, but we will not discount the bible as the authority, unlike some of the BB posters on other forums. The purpose of this forum is not to debate whether "I am more fundamental than you" but to discuss issues from an historic fundamental perspective, I.E., that the bible is our supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

Okay, now go to your corners and come out discussing! [IMG]

Excellent place to start! What makes fundamentalists different from the main body of evangelical Christendom?

    Amen, Doc Cas!

I just primed the pump on a thread about Jesus Christ's blood. MEAT!

Pastor Bob 63, are you volunteering to moderate?

Friends look at what this has caused I say let's lift our eyes to the hills from whence comes our help. It is my honest hope and Prayer that if the Lord can lead this forum to a higher level that it will eventually lead to a cleaner more Godly Baptist board because if there is no one willing to fight there is little to fight about.

Lighten up. I've been asking and asking someone to provide a definition of what "fundamental" means in context of this forum, and finally someone took a stab at it, and I made a feeble attempt at humor.

I still don't see what distinguishes this forum from the other Baptist-only forums on this board.

The preceding are from this ONE thread! ( Read the others for a ten-fold example!) I fail to see the cause of so much venom AGAINST a forum of JUST fundamentals! If you don't like it, don't indulge! Are those of us who like the idea supposed to kow-tow to y'all who APPEAR(?) to be afraid of a literal scriptural interpretation? Come off it!!! Nobody's going to force anyone to participate, or even read anything from here.

What bothers me is that all these people seem determined to CAUSE this forum to fail; why else are they here when, by their own admission, the whole concept of this forum is foolish?

It brings to mind the re-building of the walls of Jerusalem by Nehemiah, & the constant goading by Sanballat & Tobiah to discourage the work!!

Is that your goal?

Speaking for myself, I was (and am) only trying to figure out who is supposed to participate, and what makes this forum any different from the forums that already exist. [IMG]
