News For Fans Of British Comedy

John Inman, the actor who played Mr. Humphries on the British Comedy "Are You Being Served", has died (March 8). He was 71 years old.

While there were many things about Inman's lifestyle that, as a Christian I find offensive, his performances on AYBS were priceless. As a fan of British comedy I am saddened by his death, as a Christian I am saddened even more by his eternity (1Cor 6:9-10). :tear:

Now THAT is something a Christian would write. I applaud your comment, and share your grief.

God's Blessings to you and yours,

That is sad news. He was very funny.

We don't know with all certainty what was in his heart at the time of his death. We are not wise enough to say for sure where he is now. I would hate to proclaim that he is in hell if, in fact, he is reigning with Christ in heaven.

==I would not wish to do that either. However the truth is that Mr. Inman was a homosexual who "married" his long time "lover" about two years ago. The Bible is very clear that homosexuals will not inherit the Kingdom of God (1Cor 6:9-10). While I would love to believe that Mr. Inman is in the presence of the Lord right now it just seems really unlikely.

Btw. Contrary to popular belief the character "Mr. Humphries" was not gay. The writers of the show, and Mr. Inman himself, have made that point in several interviews. I believe it was David Croft who once said that they left it ambiguous.

I saw this in the news last month and had much the same thoughts myself. While I would love to think he repented at the end it is highly unlikey given the life he led.
