And I'm ordering a Hebrew National Frank on a bun, with cheese. I want them to put cheese on it, and I don't care if it violates their faith. I don't want fake cheese, either. Or goat cheese, or anything else they might serve in Israel, or anywhere else in Absurdistan. I want a slice of American White Cheese on my dog.

And next I might try a Muslim place, I could order a BLT with a frosty mug of Beck's Beer.

And in both places I'm singing "On Christ the solid rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand" before I eat. Loudly. They must accomodate.

    Who's with me ?

I don't mind getting thrown out of the Jewish deli with you but I don't care to be beheaded at the Muslim dive that you are going to.

Oh, don't worry. We'll have the liberals demanding the same thing of them as they do that grandmother pizza shop owner. Certainly they will be honest arbiter's of everyone's rights.

Next you could demand your car mechanic serve you fries with your oil change. Makes about as much sense as what you are proposing.

Did you see where that one female high school teacher nut tweeted that she wanted to commit arson at a pizza shop in northern Indiana? I think the Indiana State Police took her case and that she is now unemployed.

Surely you can see the difference. What religious tenets guides how car mechanics perform their duties?

I was attempting to illustrate how it is unreasonable to demand something from a business when they don't provide that item (or service) to anyone. I.e., demanding a Muslim place providing bacon.

I'm with you on this. I don't want to jump all over town trying to get what I want, when I want it, where I want it. If I go to Hiram's Kosher Deli to get some nice fatty pastrami, a jar of gefilte fish and some matzahs why would I want to get in my car to drive across town to Marvin's to buy bacon?

I know my rights. I want bacon and who does Hiram think he is to deny me bacon? I should be able to buy a bacon cheeseburger there, too.

I'd dunk you in the creek but we don't want to scare the fish. They are under the ice waiting. Enough fooling around. Back to the OP.

This thread illustrates something. Reasonable people have reasonable expectations. I'm not getting bacon from the Kosher deli. It goes against the dietary laws. I get it. It would be unreasonable for me to expect a Kosher deli to sell something that goes against the religious beliefs of the owner. It would be even more unreasonable for me to demand they violate the tenets of their faith because I wanted bacon there, then and now.

Unfortunately there is not a well-oiled machine going to bat for fat, white Christian guys who feel discriminated against by Kosher delis. Who is going to stand-up for the bacon deprived? Where's the pork belly lobby?

They don't serve bacon for the same reason some don't cater gay weddings.

    And I'm not fat.

Yall know that Jewish dietary laws prevent a lot of things. But somehow, I can always go to a Jewish deli and get the best tasting Reubens.

But back to the subject at hand.

It is not discriminatory when everyone is treated the same. Say you can't get bacon at the Jewish deli. If he's not giving anyone else bacon, how is he discriminating against you?

If you are preparing cakes for everybody else's celebrations,, but then tell me you can't supply one for my gay celebration, that's discriminatory.

And where does it stop? If a gay person walks into a restaurant with their partner and is wearing a rainbow flag, would a Christian owner not serve them too?

Where does it stop in the other direction? I have officiated several hundred weddings. Every single couple was one bride and one groom. Eventually, someone will try to make a point and ask me to officiate a wedding for two guys or two gals just for the point of getting me to say no.

It doesn't matter that state law says I have the right to refuse. It doesn't matter that I hold deeply held religious convictions against such so-called marriages. The reality is once targeted by militant groups you will be dragged through the mud until their purpose is served. They want to ruin whoever they target.

I'm just a simple hard-working guy. Two things I could not afford: 1) a few thousand dollars to have an attorney represent me in civil court just to say "He has the right to say no." 2) Getting dragged through the court of public opinion, local media and social media as the gay hating, backwoods, redneck preacher boy that hates gays and puppies.

25 years ago I would have been surprised we'd be having this conversation over cakes. I'd hate to hear what we're talking about 25 years from now.

If you've never performed a "wedding for two gay individuals, I would imagine that no court is gonna think it unreasonable if you don't want to start providing that service.

But a baker bakes cakes and has been baking cakes for forever. It is unreasonable that suddenly you don't want to bake a cake because the person is gay.

This is the same thing that people did to Blacks.Oh they are nasty. Oh they have got some disease. They are dirty. God says the races shouldn't mix and yada yada yada.

    Treat people like people.
Bake the cake and keep it moving.
