Perhaps he shouldn't have taken the plea and reduced sentence. If convicted.... at least he would have had a few more years here, even in jail, where we'd pay for his comfort and his family could visit.... and he'd be protected for a while from immediate threats of deportment and perhaps becoming a target in his own native country.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... OTOH..... a person without hope and a religion where jihad is the only way of salvation and suicidal homicide is favored and a brief sentence ending in deportment, his future does not look good. I doubt seriously that our prison rehabilitation program will change him for the better..... neither for us nor for him.
I say lets pray that through his current misfortune our God will bring opportunity for the message of the Word and Salvation to him.
