    McLean Bible Church is not in the SBC church database, or the directory of the Virginia state convention (or of the schism group), and portrays itself as nondenominational on its website, with no mention of SBC or even Baptist. Nevertheless, the church has been Southern Baptist "since 2016," claims an International Mission Board spokeswoman attempting to justify the SBC entity's president's pastorate of the nondenominational church:

    Why in the world would someone have to "justify" helping out a Christian congregation - regardless of its relationship with the SBC - with leadership?
