    Dr. Bob,
Would you be willing to share more about the damage that is done to the body through vaccinations?

    Good points, Caretaker and Helen,

My father had polio and had to stay in an iron lung. He made sure his kids got the polio vaccine as soon as available.
Long ago, a whole branch of my family died in several days in a typhoid outbreak. On an isolated farm, no less. Many of my relatives died in the great flu epidemic after World War I.
Some towns had mass funerals and burials.
Other relatives had diphtheria, a very nasty disease. I had complications from measles. I had mumps when my mother was pregnant. This could have harmed my brother. Blessedly did not.

As a result of immunizations, we as a country do not see the heart-rending situations that used to be so common.

Dr. Bob, a Biblical reason to immunize are the various Proverbs that talk about a prudent person looking at danger and planning his steps.
PTW, I guess that you don't have to put your son in his car seat anymore, by that reasoning.

The debate on immunization has produced many books, not just little blurbs to put on the BB!

I am thrilled to see Scripture brought in, about the prudence in each family. Just need to be sure you HAVE evidence and not just buying the line of the AMA. It is about time people began to question the "infalibility of the MD"

Example: One of the shots given to little babies (who can't defend themselves) is DPT. There is probably the most evidence of brain and neurological damage from that single shot than any other.

BTW, IF one opts for the immunization route, might we suggest WAITING until the baby has developed its own defense mechanisms (start at 3-4 years, not 1 week). And for goodness sake, ask the MD to give the DPT shots INDIVIDUALLY, allowing a couple months between each shot for the body to fight off the bad effects.

Happy to snail mail folks with more info if they are faced with the immunization dilemma. pm your address.

HCL, I plugged in "immunizations dangers" to the google search engine (google.com) and got some interesting stuff for you on it:

    http://www.add-pediatrics.com/geninfo/gen-imm.html

    http://www.saferchild.org/immuniza.htm
    -- pro vaccinations

    http://www.jrussellshealth.com/immune.html
    -- anti-vaccinations

    http://my.webmd.com/content/article/29/1728_62786?
    -- changing one's mind...

    http://educate-yourself.org/vcd/
-- very much against vaccinations, but I did not check the links to see if the various reports were reputable or researched or hysteria based.

    http://home.san.rr.com/via/
-- excellent and factual material presented without bias toward either side

There are lots more. I stayed away from the hysteria pages and from the yin/yang holistic healing pages.

    These above should help, though.

The significant danger in the DPT is the "P" part, or pertussis (whooping cough). You can ask for that to be left out, as we did with Chris, and the risk of anything becomes quite minimal.

We imunized our first 2 like clock work...whenever it was time,we would be at the doctor's office...with this new baby,I am wondering if waiting would be a good idea...like Dr. Bob has suggested...I guess there would be no harm in waiting until they are 3-4....they have always made me nervous.

Don't they give some in the hosp right after baby is born? Do you know what is given then?

It is for each family to decide what is best for their family.

When a child I can remember not being able to go to many public function because of the polio out break. Swimming pools were closed during the summer(hmmm, now that I am saved I can see that maybe wasn'r a bad thing). Movie theatres had no matinees in the summer. The reasoning was to leesen the wexposure for children to polio. Then in the 50's polio vacine was introduced and change the way we lived.

Many of the diseases that were a threat when Iwas a child are hardly heard of today. My dad wasn't allowed to come home for 14 days because we were caring for a cousin whose sister was in the hospital with Diptheria.

My best buddy was shut in his house for 21 days because his brother had Scarlet Fever.

Bring on the vaccine. I was immunized as a child and had no serious side effects. Let's not return to the dark ages of rampant diseases just because some well meaning folk think the government is ou to get them.

Please don't take me back to the good old days of seeing loved ones die of TB, or friends with wheel chairs and braces because of polio.

it easy to critisize the medical profession, but God gave them the knowledge to protect us let us be thankful and partake of the blessings.

I have had bypass surgery, heart valve replacement and four angioplasty's. Procedures unheard of when my dad and grandpa died of congestive heart disease at 53 and 58. I sincerely believe the Lord has given me a few more years to serve because of the knowledge he has given medical science.

Immuniation, bring it on and PRAISE THE LORD THAT HE HAS PROVIDED FOR US TODAY!!

6kids........you refer to autism, is this an arguement against immunisation in general or just against particular ones?

There is some controversy about this in this country, but it has never been applied as a blanket cover for all immunisation.

    yours, Jon.

I have the feeling that the schedules for immunizing children were developed using bottlefed babies as the norm. I see no reason for nursed ones, who have immune advantages from mother's milk for longer, to be on the same schedule. What would be the optimum schedule, I'm not sure.

I am of two minds on this issue. The little boy I babysit had a life threatening allergic reaction to his DPT, so he has never finished the series. He will be fine without them, but perhaps only because most of the rest of us go ahead and get them.

Then again, we had an outbreak of whooping cough in our town last summer, and those who got it were sick for a long, long, time with an horrendously gagging and devastatingly tiring cough.

Then last April, my husband, who was doing chemotherapy at the time, simply walked through a clinic waiting room where there was a little girl with chicken pox. A week later he came down with shingles, and he suffered greatly from the pain of those sores, and we had to make three trips daily to the emergency room for an antiviral drip to help him fight them off. This was no easy thing for someone who is completely wiped out and nauseous from chemotherapy. We really wished that little girl had been immunized!

Well, actually, the article quoted was primarily aimed at the DPT shot. This shot has now been replaced with the DTaP shot which vaccinates for the same diseases and contains a killed instead of live virus for the P part. The idea of this is to reduce the risk of disease while still creating immunity. However, they did not address the problem of mercury in the shot. Mercury is a component of the chemical preservative thimerosal which is found in most of the shots. The main problem that most people are linking the autism to is that kids are going to the doctor and getting 3 or 4 shots, all containing mercury, at one visit. This seriously overloads the system with mercury which is terribly rough on the still developing nervous system. Perhaps if fewer shots were given at a time the problem would disappear. Anyway, the FDA has stated that, for our food supply, there is no known safe level of mecury. FYI some vaccine manufacturers are now making vaccine available which is mercury free. If you choose to immunize, it might be a good idea to request these whenever possible.

    YES!!!

Take a look at this short article
    found at @

Is it biblical to take the life of one child just to save your own?????

    ===========================================
    Vaccine's Secret Ingredient

    Aborted Human Fetal Tissue

There has been a lot of controversy lately about the use of aborted human fetal tissue for stem cell research. According to a report released July 5, 2001 by the Associated Press, the once promising research is bogged down with problems, and some in Congress wonder if it should be supported at all because of the right-to-life issues involved.

It is sad that those same scientists who are concerned about the abnormalities that are being discovered in cloned mouse embryos and the congressmen who are concerned about the issue of using aborted human fetal tissue for stem cell research haven't shown the same concerns for the vaccine question. What do these two subjects have in common, you might ask? The answer lies in the fact that a close reading of the literature published by Merck, the primary producer of the Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) vaccine, indicates that they use aborted human fetal tissue in the production of this vaccine. Not only that, but several other vaccines use it as well.

The product insert for the MMR Vaccine shows that,"the rubella virus vaccine live (contains the Wistar Institute RA 27/3 strain of rubella virus propagated in human diploid [WI-38] cell culture). These "human diploid cell cultures" are made from the lung and other tissues of an aborted fetus.

President Bush's Press Secretary, Ari Fleischer, quoting the President's statements during the campaign, stated that Bush, "would oppose federally funded research for experimentation on embryonic stem cells that require live human embryos to be discarded or destroyed." If this is true, and it appears to be, then why does he allow the government to mandate that parents have their children injected with a substance which requires those same human embryo's to be destroyed in order to manufacture it? Is this a case, to paraphrase an old western movie, where, "Great White Father speak with forked tongue"?

Is the life of a fetus used to manufacturer the MMR or other vaccines less important than the life of a fetus used to harvest stem cells? This is not a case of pro-life vs pro-choice, pro-abortion vs anti-abortion or vaccine supporters vs vaccine opponents. It is a question of consistency. We can not have one standard for the vaccine industry and another for stem cell researchers. That is unless we want to convey the message that one life is more valuable than another.

President Bush, you can't have it both ways. You can't straddle the fence. One of the demands of your job is that you make the hard choices and take stands that may be unpopular with a segment of the population. We've had too many Presidents that tried that approach and as a result committed political suicide.

I'm sorry but could you clarify.

  19. We did. We nailed him to a tree.

Now don't get me wrong- I'm 100% absolutely against abortion. I would not want to financial support abortion via the government, nor would I want to put people in office who support it.

BUT- Despite the evil in the world, God can use it for good. If He can work through the hands of a doctor to make a vaccine that will save millions of lives, and it is done from an aborted fetus, I say, so be it.

Now imagine if someone commits suicide and they have a heart that is in perfect shape. Does the doctor- because of their sin- ignore the donor registration card, or use the heart to save the life of another person.

Adam, there is plenty of material for vaccines available without using aborted fetuses. It's just that those little dead babies are so much more convenient....
