Where did the post about what you thought was the biggest challenge to the Bible go?
    I had two:
I didn’t understand the whole book of Revelation because, if Satan does know what’s said is going to happen to him, why is he going to still go exactly with Gods plans in order to accomplish them? How much choice does he actually have over his bodily actions and his future? And why did God plan his demise this way anyway? Why does it cost a third of the human race?
I was also reading up on Egyptian history in a book by Cyrus H. Gordon, and it shows shocking comparisons of Egyptian literature to stories of nearby civilizations, such as the ones written in the book of Genesis, but were they actually written first before the early Genesis Records? Or can we prove they actually occurred anyway, unlike the Egyptian fairytales?

The Genesis records are the originals and the others are mythologies built up around the truth of the history Genesis talks about.

This may help. Our dear friend Curt died a few weeks ago, and is with our Lord now, but his explantion of something called the "Tablet Hypothesis" may help you understand what more and more Old Testament scholars are beginning to take as a very serious possibility -- that Genesis is a series of eye-witness accounts put down in writing by the people who lived them and only later colated and edited by Moses.

As far as Revelation is concerned, my personal belief is that it was written to reassure the people living through those events that God knew ahead of time, and here is how it ends, and if you believe in Him there is nothing to fear in terms of eternity. What the devil does with that knowledge is up to him. But God's will and His purposes will not be thwarted.

well, it really leaves us with an uncertain future. I mean how are we to tell what is satan's doing and how that realtes to what was told in relevation?

What you need to know about the future is that God is in control.

What is FAR more important is how you live your life now, and your relationship with Christ. That is what will determine your future anyway!

    This is for Helen:

If Moses did not WRITE Genesis and the rest of the Torah, then Jesus is a liar... and I don't think you would agree with that.
