Dear Christian Friends You may have heard in the news that a couple of Post Offices in Texas
have been forced to take down small posters that say "IN GOD WE TRUST".
They claim that the law is being violated; something silly involving
"electioneering posters". (Is God running for office?)
Anyway, apparently some radio show host has proposed that we should all
write "IN GOD WE TRUST" on the back of all our mail.
After all, that is our national motto, and it's on all the money we use
to buy those stamps. I think this is a wonderful idea.
We must take back our nation from all the people who think
that anything that offends them should be removed.
If you like this idea, please pass it on, and DO IT.
Let's start a land swell of support for our cherished principles we all
    love and believe in.

This won't cost you anything but a tiny bit of effort,
and the RESULTS could be PRICELESS!
    God Bless America

Why should we have posters that are not true posted in our post offices? What we should have is posters that say "In God we give lip service"

It gets hard to give more than lip service when people are so constantly negative! People who are supposed to be uplifting and helping fellow Christians.
It's good to question what we're doing sometimes, but I get really sick of negative Christians who just put everyone else down all the time and then expect it to somehow motivate them?! No, it doesn't motivate anyone, it depresses Christians and makes them look like idiots to non-Christians to see us putting each other down.
    So quit doing it.

Good post Gina! Doesn't the Bible state that if you love Jesus you will keep his commandments? And Doesn't Jesus say to "Love thy neighbor as thyself"? If you love your neighbor or your brother or sister in Christ, won't you be edifying them instead of arguing with them? Gina, you are right, non-believers look at the Christian community and say, I don't want any part of this! We are going to be the only Bible some people see. Please, take in God we trust, to heart and really trust God. [IMG]

go2church: I hope you are speaking only for yourself! I do not give God 'lip service'. I trust Him with all my heart! Have you read Luke 10:33-34 lately? [IMG]

Gina & Rick: You both made some very good valid points! [IMG] Below is a devotional I read today about the Good Samaritan. It fits right in what you both said and with this discussion...

"Killing our wounded. It has been said many times that the Christian army is the only army that kills its wounded. How true.

In these verses from the famous Good Samaritan story, it is interesting the religious men who saw the wounded traveler passed by on the other side.

Now that is like religious people today. Rather than unconditionally helping someone who is down,
hurting, they sit back and talk about how the person got that way. They talk about the sins in their life that put them in that wounded state.

They talk with spiritual pride about how they could never do the things the wounded person did.
They almost take joy in seeing their brother or sister hurting.

People will be outraged that I had the audacity to say such things. The trouble is, they are true!

How easy would it have been for Jesus to condemn the adulterous woman at the well. Instead he talked to her and rather than condemn her, tried to show her another way.

Each day in these devotionals, I sometimes point out words, God's, not mine, to try and warn you from behavior that could lead to great heartache and pain.

God loved you so much that He put these warnings in His Word to try and save you from going through the tragedies so many are going through every day because they chose to ignore God and do it their way.

But what is our response to be to the one who has rebelled, the one who has fallen, the one who is hurting? Condemn them? Tell them how stupid they are? Ignore their pain and keep on going with our own life?

I want you to think hard today about how you respond to people who have fallen. Those who are hurting. God still loves them, He didn't stop loving Adam and Eve even though He punished them. God doesn't stop loving us even though we have failed Him.

Right now, this very second, you know someone who needs love, support, and kindness. You know someone who is "laying wounded by the side of the road" that God has placed in your path to minister to.

Will you respond to that opportunity the way those religious men did on that dusty Jericho Road? The way so many "religious" people respond today? Or will you be like the Good Samaritan and help that person recover.

God is challenging you through these very words to be like the Good Samaritan and help those who are fallen, hurting, needing His love.

Find someone today that is hurting and needs help. Go there with the love of Christ and let them know that Jesus loves them, cares for them, and will help them get back on their feet.

With the great technology that we have today, how much can a few sold-out for Jesus people do if we are serious? Let God make a difference in your life, and go make a difference in the lives of those around you!"

I would rather the country give God lip service than no service at all.

We got an email about this a couple of weeks ago.

So, we printed "In God We Trust" on computer labels and now put them on every piece of mail we send.

Also, people who don't have computers could write "In God We Trust" by hand or buy a pre-inked rubber stamp.

If enough people start doing this, it may send a message to godless organizations like the ACLU.

It only takes a spark to get a bonfire going. [IMG]

Just how is writing a motto, or sticking a label on an envelope encouraging?

The truth is this country as a whole doesn't trust God. How many examples do you need! Just watch your evening newscast or read the morning paper. The motto was only put the money/ adopted as a reactionary piece of legislation during the "Red Scare" of the 50's.

    Gina,
That is a great question! It gets to the heart rather quickly about why I think the whole slap a sticker on an envelope is a waste of time. Rather then expressing in a relational manner the love of Christ to people who are not believers, many have choosen instead to jam it down peoples throat...I don't care what you think or why you think it here is God, take that. The people of this nation need a relationship with Jesus very badly, I just don't think the whole sticker thing is the way to go about it.

I once started a similar project and when I told others about it here, it got shot to pieces by several individuals. In my thinking, I was trying to plant seeds. You never know who will find the message, consider it a sign or an omen, believe they were meant to get the dollar, and begin investigating why "Jesus is the Answer" [IMG]

What message will be sent? Remember, the nation of Israel had all kinds of ways of outwardly obeying God. What was his oppinion? He said to do away with their songs, and feasts, and holy days, and everything else that "showed" they followed him. No, if you are not redeemed, God doesn't want it.

It is not the responsibility of the church to build a kingdom of God on earth. Just show me one passage that supports all this stuff. Paul NEVER got caught up in all this stuff.

The USA will NEVER be a righteous nation. Why? Because it is impossible. People are righteous and nations are not.

    1 Corinthians 12:28
And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.

    Isaiah 26:2 Open the gates
that the righteous nation may enter,
    the nation that keeps faith.

I use Christian address labels and checks with scriptures on them.

Do you have any idea how many people view these things?

I have read something before that the Holy Spirit used to convict me of something.

I believe every letter I send out and every check I write is sowing a seed. You never know who will water it..........
