Again, I suggest that you work on your reading comprehension skills.

I said, " These cities can't provide an indoor place for these people to stay? You put people in tent cities in order to get media attention so that you can then demand federal tax dollars."

To anyone with even the most rudimentary reading skills would have understood the meaning of the words "These cities can't provide an indoor place for these people to stay?" to mean that the cities should be providing indoor shelter.

So no, I would not be the "first to say that the government should not help these bums."

Now perhaps you could address my point. Why are these cities not providing indoor shelter for these people instead of defacto relegating them to tent cites if not for show in an attempt to gain Federal dollars to provide what they should be providing on their own?

Much of this is happening on the west coast.

One large contributing reason: The governmental and environmental regulations drove home prices beyond ridiculous. A home costing $150K in other cities might run near $1 million in the People's Republic of California.

Add to this an onerous propery tax burden...and voila, you have lots of folks who can't afford to live anywhere.

So the inflated home prices on the west coast is purely the cause of governmental and environmental regulations??? Give me a break. You can't really believe that.

One clue, people will price something by how much they think someone will pay. Why list my house at $1K when I know someone will pay a million? And NY is no different.

    Suggestion: Try reading and comprehending.

I never said "purely." I said "one large contributing factor."

If you doubt that, check out some of the environmental and associated zoning laws in much of CA.

    ANd yes...it does affect prices.

In Washington State something in excess of 10% of new housing costs are generated by zoning restrictions.
