Guns bought our liberties, guns keep them. I understand that in Australia guns are illegal, is that correct? What do the police do, now that there is no crime?

Dear God...help the Australians stop being victimized due to their pacifistic, RC induced, liberalism and help them, as well as the Americans, to remember their history of freedom :praying:

WHY RAPISTS & ROBBERS LOVE AUSTRALIA'S GUN-CONTROL LAWS

Crime up Down Under Since Australia's gun ban, armed robberies increase 45%

"Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one." - Luke 22:36

Not so James, it is very much more strictly governed...licensing of owners to own a gun etc, probably have different criteria in what constitutes ownership and care of firearms.

Sadly, the criminal element is always able to access guns if highly motivated, and the thin blue line are armed.

That is why we need to defend our right to bear arms. If a criminal knows he may encounter an armed victim he will more than likely steer clear.

In a community north of Atlanta it is a law that every citizen be armed. The crime rate is very low there.

    Rufus...

the data is not really relevant....does gun ownership in the USA make the USA a safer place? I do not feel that this is the case, I cringe with horror every time some lunatic shoots up their workplace or school or whatever because of the relative liberality of American gun ownership....

Aussie gun laws were tightened very much after that goose Martin Bryant shot up Port Arthur in Tasmania. This guy is so mentally limited it is hard to conceive that he did not shoot himself trying to shoot down innocents....that is why Australia did so, how many schoolyards have to be drenched in blood before that happens in the USA

......I wonder about that, often the criminal is so desperate he aint thinking very clearly anyway. I dont have the answer but I would not have a gun in my house because it is way too easy for the gun to be waved about when tempers flair, much easier to avoid flying crockery:tonofbricks:

Australia used to be cited as a poster country, in the effectiveness of private gun ownerships constraint on crime.

One word mate, Kennesaw :) I'ld like to see a Kennesaw style area in Oz...Like somewhere around Newcastle would be great :D

That said: Was it just me or did bloke carrying in video in OP have a bit of attitude about it (or is he just American? ;)) Even if carrying is legal where he is getting cops worked up isnt great idea :)

The data isn't relevant? You've got Aussies protecting their lives and property with arms, the gov't takes away the arms and the criminals say thank you very much. Your crime rate skyrockets because the criminals no longer fear people having the ability to protect themselves and the data isn't relevant?

Gun ownership in the USA does make the USA a safer place. Ask Hitler, Stalin, & Mao what they think about private gun ownership, and consider how that made those nations safer.

Those schoolyards didn't have to be drenched in blood if the right people had the guns rather than the wrong people.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." --Thomas Jefferson, quoting Cesare Beccaria in On Crimes and Punishment (1764).

I understand your point, but I believe he is forcing the police to recognize our right to own and carry. Without people like him reminding authorities, through exercising that right, we would have an increasingly difficult time with that right. I applaud his method and manner, but Mr. Table cloth's manner is not my cup o tea. One informs, the other accuses and ridicules.

Yes, I know that when my wife is late with the dinner, I have to fight the urge to get out the shotgun. But I would rather not have to throw the crockery at the guy breaking into my house at 3 a.m.
