while the number of bodybags of the Allied forces mount, the Iraqis have lost 600,000 of their own, apparently. this number much exceeds the estimates at http://www.iraqbodycount.org/

either way, one wonders if there's any proportionality (let alone rationality) in all this n if any neocon cares.

My own faulty science, just like theirs.

Ridiculous claims like the one cited only provide fuel for the gullible and those who wish to be labeled as fools and idiots.

There was also a survey done that there were really 42,000 Americans killed as a result of 911. Sounds as reasonable as 650,000 Iraqis.

Not really as their study had a methodology which I gather you didn't bother to look at.

Yeah, John Hopkins' fools and idiots regularly get published in Lancet.

I don't know - what are they including when they say "as a result of"? That's pretty sparse info to judge anything on - citation? Or did you make this one up, too?

This thread shouldn't be under News/Current Events category.

Do we have a "space cadet" or "gullibles united" category somewhere?:flower:

And at least one expert was skeptical of the new findings.

    You don't say.....

Also, I don't see any margin of error mentioned.

Lets see, a negative report, with very little provable facts, right before an election. Try & try again......

    Gonna be a great Noveber.

The margin of error was somewhere between 793,663 and 426,369, believe it or not.:BangHead:

Thanx, Carpro. The link in the OP won't work, for me. Now I know why FSIH left that little bit out.

That margin hardly makes for an accurate report. But it makes a great opportunity for the "neocon" insult.

Has anyone actually read the report? If so, why do you think it's not possible that it could be accurate?

I am not sure it's accurate or not, however in reading the report, it does seem like they did a thorough report, and are reporting only what they have found.

It doesn't look like politics to me.

Just wondering what other think, that have actually read the report.

Prez Bush has just denied the report, calling it "inaccurate," a reaction that had me pick myself off the floor!

the rest of the report here: http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003251350

together with the plane crash this afternoon in Manhattan, obviously another attempt by the Dems to discredit the neocons before the elections.

So, we are expected believe that over 2.5% of the entire popluation of Iraq has been wiped out in 3 years? I find that very hard to believe.

That would be the percentage equivalent of the entire war dead, civilian and military, in our own country during the 4 years of the Civil War.

A plausible explanation would be that the "survey" was conducted in and around Baghdad or other large cities in central Iraq. That is where the vast majority of the large-scale violence is taking place, and I might believe that even 3% of the population of that area has been killed during the war.

The group who conducted the "survey" admitted that they released their 2004 results due to the impending presidential election. We would be safe to assume the same is happening here. They are attempting to affect elections. When such is the case, we should be very wary of accepting their results as fact.

Why are they the only group thus far that has released such a high body count?

In any event, even these statistics show that the deaths are occuring because terrorists are killing their own people. These deaths are not due to U.S. efforts.

There is something not right about this "survey".

I was under the impression, according to media reports, that this was an accident, not a terrorist plot.

Are Dems really trying to use that crash to disredit Republicans, or are you just making stuff up?
