If there is proof that the emails and hard drives were purposely destroyed or hidden from the committe and American public, and it is shwon that Obama knew about it, I would want Obama impeached.

Well, that is my question?

If the hard drive is hidden somewhere else there is no retrieving anyone can do because the drive is nowhere to be found unless the one who hid it decides to snitch and bring them out.
Otherwise, a simple crash cannot just erase data.
there are software that can bring out data that's been overwritten twice or thrice, and software that can retrieve deleted data.
those investigating should deputize a civilian, private sector, computer security expert to ask the necessary questions on their behalf, and analyze the answers and investigate if data deletion software have been installed in and on those computers alleged to have crashed, including the email servers and the administrative servers.
    just my non-tech worthless two-bits.

as for impeachable, I don't know about that.

The IRS conveniently "recycled" the hard drive in question. In other words they destroyed evidence.

Ask Richard Nixon. Read the Second Article of Impeachment against Richard Nixon. It's virtually word for word what's going on with the IRS right now.

For this to be meaningful we need to ask if the actions are not only impeachable, but convictable.

An impeachment, without conviction does no good and the current Senate will not convict the president.

And, C4K, you should add that the current House will not impeach Obama.

Funny. The same thing was a part of the impeachment charges that had been drawn against Nixon. Didn't bother them then that there was no proof Nixon knew anything about it.

The fact is that, as Mark Twain said long ago, we have the best Congress that money can buy.

And the second fact is that the GOP is not going to do anything against Obama.

And finally the Democrats would rather hand nuclear weapons to Iran than to do anything to force Obama to act legally.

Congress might as well pass an Enabling Act to allow Obama to be absolved of any constitutional or legal obligations.

Nixon thought about doing what Obama did and would have liked to have done what Obama did but Nixon did not do anything involving the IRS. All that Nixon did was try to cover up what others had done at the Democrat offices.

It already has. The republicans and George W. Bush saw to that. I didn't hear you complaining about it then.

Many here championed it at the time. Some still do.

    How soon we forget...

    Nixon Impeachment Articles

    Article 2

Using the powers of the office of President of the United States, Richard M. Nixon, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in disregard of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has repeatedly engaged in conduct violating the constitutional rights of citizens, impairing the due and proper administration of justice and the conduct of lawful inquiries, or contravening the laws governing agencies of the executive branch and the purposed of these agencies.

This conduct has included one or more of the following:

He has, acting personally and through his subordinates and agents, endeavoured to obtain from the Internal Revenue Service, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, confidential information contained in income tax returns for purposed not authorized by law, and to cause, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, income tax audits or other income tax investigations to be intitiated or conducted in a discriminatory manner.
    --------------

As to the OP, yes, if Obama knew this was going on and did nothing to stop it, it is impeachable.

"In the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously." Adolf Hitler
