Political freedom is a myth. You all make such a big deal over the names of your tax collectors and bankers.

If Jesus makes uoy free, you are free, indeed.

America has not been free in the truly constitutional sense for quite some time.

Wow! I expected the replies to this topic might be compared to a wild dog pack protecting it's turf, but instead they sound more like they come from a bunch of whipped puppies being careful not to upset their master.

These people have been caught red handed stealing everything we own or ever will own (by fiat) and all you guys can say is gee whiz the good ole days are gone forever?

Aren't you angry? Or upset to find out that a mere handful of men control your whole life?

Whoa for the good old days? What is that all about? That's not how free men think.

That's how slaves think. I say America is not a free nation anymore and it never will be until we start thinking like free men again.

How can our nation be free if even our own thoughts are enslaved?

... and there are those who refuse to be slaves in their hearts or in their minds or in their souls and those who use misfortune to educate & elevate themselves. It is your choice. I thank God for this freedom of choice, for otherwise we would be slaves indeed.

No man has been free since the fall of Adam.

Freedom in this life is relative.

People of other countries and other times have been relatively more or less free than I am - but I have little or no control over the rest of the world.

I can only control - to a very limited extent - the circumstances of my life by the choices that I make.

I enjoy a relatively affluent lifestyle - when compared to the rest of the world population - and my family is relatively happy and healthy - relative to how things could otherwise be.

I know that my response is other than what you would hope for - but it is how I choose to view my life on this earth.

True freedom - to competely love God and completely bask in his glory - without concern - will come in the next life.

Some people are born free even in ghettos, even under persecution, even in slavery. I should think it is a matter of character.

I see, Samuel Adams is here and he would like to say a few words.

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”

If freedom is "relative" as you say, then why have millions died to attain and preserve it, for you. Freedom isn't measured in comfort or "relative" security. It's measured in blood and sacrifice. Many a man has acted boldly and died so you can "enjoy a relatively affluent lifestyle" what would you say to them now? Thanks for the relative freedom?

Free men don't think like that.

Could it be that the choices you make and have made have a greater impact on others than you might ever imagine? What can one righteous man do? Or not do?

    Poncho,

Because some of us recognize the truth that America has lost her true liberties, doesn't mean that we are not working to support a change. We are. I would to God that we abolish this form of government and reinstate a constitutional government. Or else that a people who love Jesus would seceed form the union. God knows we have every biblical right to do so.

Poncho, I have seen you post many times on the concept of freedom.

Have you ever considered that you are not free because your are a slave to your illusion of the possibility of freedom in this life?

You must have fallen asleep during all the "romans 13" debates we've had here over the years. The "majority" here seem to think God's will is for us to be obedient slaves to a corupt state that rules through usurped, ill gotten power, thuggery and fearmongering.

I do long for the days when preachers would stand up and preach loud sermons against tyranny as if it were any other evil to be dealt with in this world.

Oh, if only men like Jonathan Mayhew still walked the earth.

Very excellent post. You are correct. We have not had Constitutional government for some time. The vast majority on this board play right into the status quo establishment game by spending endless threads arguing the differences between the two major parties and which one is more Godly. They are both a stench to the Lord, as they both break every sin in the book with no remorse or conscience.

If it were up to me, everyone of them would be either on a chain gang or breaking rocks in the sun. The unholy alliance of corporations, lobbyists, and politicians has robbed the American people for decades. It seems we have forgotten that the power flows from us to the government, not the other way around.

Look how far we have come in 200+ years. We had leaders like Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, Monroe, and Lincoln who at least had some morals, leadership ability and a desire to serve, to the garbage today of Bush, Clinton, Obama, Pelosi, etc, etc, etc who have no desire to serve, but to rob.

It seems the Lord has blessed this nation beyond what we deserve, and we just continue to wear our sin like a badge of honor. How patient is the Lord? In our case, very. He took out Saul in the OT long before he got to where we are today.

You seem to have a rather defeatist attitude my friend.

Do you intend to answer my questions or are you going to keep a safe relative distance from them?

No - not a defeatist attitude - but one of self reliance.

I am not enslaved by the world because I do not rely upon it - as you seem to be by advocating and believing that if only you can change the world you will be free.

I live my life - as I choose - inspite of what the rest of the world decides to do.

Which of us is more free?

    If only?

If only you would answer my questions. :BangHead:

Wanna know how your choices are chosen for you by someone else every day? Here's an example. I'm going to invite you out for dinner tonight! Which do you prefer, McDonald's or Burger King?

Yeah you live your life your way alright. Which do you prefer, republicans or democrats? Security or liberty? A corporate fascist police state or certain death at the hands of radical extremists? Be they foreign or now the ever popular domestic kind.

Please feel free to choose between any set of these limited choices any time you wish!

Ah, freedom! Isn't it great? You are free to make choices outside these boundaries of course but I got the feeling you wouldn't because it might be outside of your comfort zone.

You're even free to protest and let your opinions be known right up until you become effective. Then the whole power of the establishment will bear down hard on you. Take Ron Paul's presidential run for example. That's exactly what happened. Because he was a very real threat to the "established" global order of usupers, crooks and tin pot tyrants that evidently you have chosen to let get away with their myriad crimes against the USA and your own family and friends.

By using the old I'm powerless to effect change excuse.

    What questions?

All I see are ramblings about how you could be free if not for (fill in the blank).

    I don't say that.

My life has never been better.

    No I am not angry.

Who is controlling my life? I don't care what others do to manipulate the money system (or whatever it is that you think keeps you under the control of a handful of men).

    I do as I wish.

What are you prevented from doing?

    I don't think that.

If you think that your thoughts are enslaved then you must be enslaved.

Don't drag the rest of us down into your mire.

Exactly what freedom is it that you do not have that you think that others are preventing you from having?
