    I did. I still enjoy a good cigar, 1 or 2 times a year.

 I must state that a good friend of mine told me that he read the story from a book on Spurgeon. I can't verify how accurately he was recalling what he told me.

Either way...its funny. (again, here is my hint:  )

I see you have no problem making it look like Jesus would approve of that which the Scriptures forbid.

You may want to start that post again...it is quite presumptious of you.

Again, thank you for the courtesy laugh!

It was funny but...This is a common rebuttal when it comes to tobacco apologetics. Spurgeon (who I appreciate) did it so it's alright, as though the Prince of Preachers was without error and this makes toking up fiiine. I wonder how many Christian deaths can be attributed to Christian leaders apologizing for this habit and Christians listening to them?

    dan,

My last post was directed at Curtis, not you. Curtis has Christ making alcoholic wine and drinking it.

I have already showed extensively why both accusations are false.

I know, I know. I assumed you would understand that I wasn't trying to use that example to say "since he did it, it's okay". My apologies if it came off that way. Although I'm sure you knew I wasn't.

I think it is pretty difficult to say that smoking a cigar, or even a pipe, is inherently sinful. Not a whole lot to back that up with, unless it is someone clearly in addiction. Even if you bring up health issues.....they are nowhere near as unhealthy as cigarettes. Drinking a soda per day is most likely worse for your body than a pipe per month. That is my impression from my reading up a little on health risks from smoking a pipe.

Lot's of folks die of heart didease, but nobody would even think of saying chocolate is a sin. A candy bar will damage your body way more than a single beer. But judging by the portly folks standing behing most fundy pulpits, I'd say it's pretty much ignored.

Hope of Glory, you haven't proved either. Paraphrasing Christ's words into what he should have said won't wash.

It is not I who is twisting God's Word to say what it doesn't Curtis.

You are the one who said Jesus drank soured wine on the cross when the Scripture clearly says He did not.

You are the one who says Jesus created an alcoholic wine when the Scriptures clearly proves He did not.

I would say that it apparently is not clear in the Scriptures if this is debatable. Many Biblical believers believe different things on this issue....so maybe it isn't so clear.

It is clear to many, dan. Many just don't want to receive the truth.

I would agree with your soda argument and is cause for why we shouldn't imbibe on that stuff either.
