Is i biblical for a Christian to dwell upon evaluating their salvation or another's salvation?

I can't think of any instances in the bible of folks having conversations of this sort with one another yet Christians do this constantly. Is it a lack of faith?

Although it is true that we don't read of such conversations in the NT, we do see admonitions to examine ourselves, instruction on how we may know that we have eternal life, and directions for excluding the rebellious from Christian identity ("let him be unto you as a heathen").

"Obsessing" is, by definition, overdoing it. We've all known people who are like that. Although examination is biblical, overdoing it is not.
