Now that he's disowned the guy he said he could never disown, can we now say Obama measures the polls before he makes a decision ? Will outside pressure cause him to change his mind about other seemingly concrete stands he has taken ?

I think in discussing this one has to take into account what happened yesterday morning at the NPC appearance by Pastor Wright. It is dishonest not to do so as this clearly changed the situation from what it was last month when Senator Obama gave his speech on race relations.

You guys are so predictable. Obama's comments were made prior to Wright making a further fool of himself. The situation changed. Had Obama said the opposite of his rebuke of Wright, you guys would be slamming him for that. He cannot win with some people rgardless of what he does or says. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. Just admit you dislike him and leave it at that.

He said he couldn't disown him, and then did just that. That's a flip-flop.

I can't applaud an action 20 years too late, but that aside, Obama has been shown incompetent, and a very poor judge of character. But he shares that trait with many of his supporters, as does McCain, to be fair.

Just another side show in the race to socialism.

Socialism has certain good points as does capitalism. An overuse of either one is detrimental to the well being of the citizens of a nation.

Call it what you want. It was the right thing for him to do and you know it.

Actually, Ken, the more social programs that get enacted, the poorer & stupider our kids get.

Baloney. An unfettered free market has never worked and never will work for the benefit of the vast majority of the citizens of a nation.

It took Obama a lot longer than many of us to call Wright's words what they are, didn't it? Yet he knew him much better than any of us. Wright has been preaching his black liberation "theology" for long time and it was sweet music to Obama's ears until it became politically embarrassing. Obama's wife echoed the same line of thinking. Now it's time for Obama to dump his old friend and spiritual adviser. The problem is that Wright's words are representative of the "theology" that Obama also holds near and dear. It's just that Wright has struck too many nerves with his direct speech whereas Obama stays within bounds of appealing words like "change".

We have to deal with the here and now, not what should have happened 20 years ago. That's what the GOPs keep telling the Democrats about the 2000 election.

I'm not a GOPer, and the democrats would be foolish to follow any advice from that side.

I neither said nor implied that you were. I was referring to the comments by the GOPs about the 2000 election, not yours.

People have the right to fail. They have the right to try again. Socialism punishes innovation & ambition, and rewards sloth. There is no way to reconcile socialism with what is taught in the bible. And yes, I would LOVE to go into detail, if you would like to challenge me.

The Bible does not endorse any particular political or economic system. Any mentions deal with individuals not an entire political or economic system.

Curious: what is an overuse of capitalism?
