Is that conservatism?

I hear much about any "conservative" who works with any "liberal" is not then truly a conservative. Or vise-versa.

Are we saying then that to be a true conservative one must NEVER work with a liberal to give and take on any issue whatsoever?

How then would any issue ever be resolved?

Doesn't the government NEED to collect SOME taxes? Doesn't the government NEED to do something to secure our borders? Doesn't these things require some negotiating between both conservatives and liberals?
