OK, first let me admit that I have always been a history geek. My main interest has always been Classical and Medieval history, but I do read a bit about other areas as well. I explain this to say that I see events taking place in the US that remind me very much of Ancient Rome. When our Republic was founded, one of the models used was the Roman Republic. If you know anything about Roman history, you know that the Republic transformed from a simple system based on hard work and basic values to a complex and huge government under control of a class of ruling families. Like Rome, I think the US government may be so large and so complex that is is beyond our ability to manage it any longer. At the same time we have lost the moral rudder that once guided us as a nation. I believe that very soon the US will either undergo a radical transformation or it will collapse. What are your thoughts?
