    I ran across a quote recently . It was from Foy E. Wallace Jr. : "Some Important Corrections " in the Gospel Advocate 67 April 10th , 1075 , p. 235 .

Regarding the NIV he said that it was " tinctured throughout with the erroneous doctrines of original sin , hereditary depravity , restoration of national Israel , premillennialism and predestination . "

The above was said before the whole NIV Bible was translated . Do you folks think that the NIV is more Calvinistic than the KJV , NKJ or NASU ?

Not sure about it being too much of anything. It is conservative and if your theology is not you are going to have problems with certain translations.

Do think the NABU is pre-mill; pre-trib

I don't think sound doctrine comes from any particular translation of scripture. We take doctrine from the whole, and not a part.

I used the KJV all my life alongside of other translations, Greek and Hebrew. It was also used by Arminians, Calvinists, and even liberals all down through the ages. I just don't follow that thinking.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I think that it would be unlikely that the NIV is more Calvinistic than the KJV.

In his book entitled CALVINISTIC PATHS RETRACED, Samuel Fisk indicated that the KJV "reflected a large measure of the strong Calvinistic tone of its predecessor" (p. 75).

I truly had never heard that, and thought it a joke.

BIBLICAL TRUTH like original sin , depravity , promise/restoration of Israel , pre-millennialism and predestination are not "calvinistic". Matter of fact, most reformed Baptists I know would not hold to the restoration or, for that matter, pre-millennialism!

The ESV has a reputation for being primarily a Calvinistic production also . Most Calvinists promote it . ( I'm a Calvinist , but am not in favor of it . )
