Is there a Baptist group that views Catholics as Christians?

nth78 - Many of us, on other threads, have sought to point out the folly and error of what you are determined to do. Speaking for us, we felt obligated to do so. To say that 99% of Catholics are trusting in works or sacraments or "faith" in baptism or eucharist, etc, (just ask them) would summarize the position of us independent fundamentalists.

But you know that. Since you will not listen to this advice concerning the pernicious false teaching of Catholicism and the devastation it will have on your lives and, God forbid, children, I will simply place you on our BB prayer list.

It will have to be the Spirit of God that changes you, and that will be our prayer. Not judging you, just advising as you asked.

Interesting here.... I grew up in a town that was over 90% Catholic. The year I graduated, of 110 graduates, 106 were Catholic. I was not, and everyone of them who practiced their faith would have said I was going to directly hell, do not pass go and do collect $200. Historically the Catholic Church not only preached that but helped things along by burning "heretics" at the stake.
On the other hand, I wwnt on to college and (having never even met a Baptist before and was invited to a SBC service. I was saved there. Was I going to hell before that? Youbet, not because I wasn't a Baptist, but because I wasn't a Christian. My job has moved me around a bit and I have belongs to 3 SBC churches, a GARBC, a Baptist General Conference church and now an Independent. (In Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Arizona and Texas) I have found VERY few, if any Baptists who believed you had to be Baptist to be saved, and I have never known A Southern Baptist who ever said it out loud and I don't think they thought it.

But you will find a number of Baptists that look at Catholics as fellow Christians will still discourage such a marriage based on faith loyalty problems brought into the home. So these are two separate issues to many folks.

Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

The Bible is very clear to me on this. I hope she is a born again beleiver in Christ.

I have a Christian friend who married a Catholic. They do not have a good marriage and he is not a Christian.

Marriage takes Three: Christ, You and Her.

The important thing concerning salvation is having trust in Christ and his finished work on the cross for our sins.Do you believe the gospel message contained in 1cor15:1-4?If you believe the message, and have transferred your trust from your self or anyone or anything else to Christ alone;you're saved according to scripture.Denomination/traditions/dogmas are completely un-important.Only your total trust in noone else but Christ.
