Is West Va, really Virginia ?

    Is West Virginia really Virginia?

    Nope. And yes, Nevada really is a state, too.

    West VA was brought into the Union as the restored Commonwealth of VA.
    (during the WBTS)
    Thus - after the war - WVA should have been restored to VA.

    Except that the restored commonwealth disavowed any authority over the western counties and ratified a constitution to that effect.
