The First Baptist Church of Middleboro MA, started by Isaac Backus is celebrating its 250th anniversary this month. Still preaching salvation to the lost!

Great information, thank you very much for reminding us about this event. Issac Backus was a man the Lord used mightily, and was a strong contender of the faith. To stand in his doctrinal positions on the Board is to stand alone.
    Thanks -----Bart
....the dueling society was a polite society.

No real connection, but just noted the last line on Bartimaeus' tag. I just happened to send out an e-mail less than 5 hrs ago to a 'roadfan' group that spoke of politeness in Congress, and noted than one of the ways some of this politeness showed itself a century and more ago was duels. And that one of the reason dueling ceased to be an acceptable practice was because the body-count was getting to be too high among politicos, and would undoubtedly been higher with better aim! Of course, living in the shadow of teh local race track, you would probably not be aware of such. Heh! Heh! Ed
