    The matchups and my predictions.

Boston vs. Montreal- Montreal in 5
Ottawa vs. Pittsburgh- Ottawa in 7 (I like this matchup)
Philadelphia vs. Washington- Capitals in 6
New York Rangers vs. New Jersey- Rangers in 7 (this should be a fun matchup as well)

And now for the winners conference in the NHL...

Detroit vs. Nashville- Detroit in 5 (GO WINGS)
Calgary vs. San Jose- Sharks in 5
Colorado vs. Minnesota- Colorado in 7
Dallas vs. Anaheim- Dallas in 6 (another great matchup)

    Let the games begin.

I suspect another Red Wing choke job in the works, but that's just more of my positive Detroit nature coming through!

Definitely. Maybe the last two years of Nashville choke jobs will be atoned for by beating the DreadWings. They're 3-3-2 I think in the season series. I like our chances against them. I just hope Ellis didn't peak too soon. Nashville has played some awfully good hockey since Jan 1. I think they have the 4th or 5th highest point total since that time in the NHL.

You like your chances? The Preds had to fight to get into the post season and Detroit finished strong. I will give Trashville a game, but I would not be surprised if this is a sweep. This should be a mercifully short series.

If the Wings get good goaltending the cup is theirs hands down. This year it seems they are also coming into the playoffs with emotion. Something that they have lacked in years past. (Hey when you have the longest post-season appearance streak of any US sport you kind of take the playoffs for granted).

 Gotta love the arrogance of Dead Wing fans.

Just makes it even better when they choke and get knocked out of the playoffs.

Trashville? Nice, especially coming from a Detroit supporter.

Detroit finished strong? I don't believe they were in that top ten list of points after Jan 1 list I referenced earlier. They did start strong.

Anyway, I do like the Preds chances. They split the season series thusly:
Nov 7 @ Det: Det wins 3-2 in SO
Nov 22@ Nsh: Preds win 3-2.
Dec 10 - Det wins 2-1 in NSH
    Feb 12 @ NSH: Preds win 4-2.
    Mar 9 @ Det: Det wins 4-3
    Mar 15 @ Det: Preds win 3-1
    Mar 20 @ NSH: Det wins 6-3
Mar 30 @ Det: Det wins 1-0 (OT) against an injury plagued Pred squad
So for the season series, the goal differential is one, 20-19 in Det's favor.

This is no walkover for Det, no matter how much the homers would like to think so. I think this is a much better matchup for the Preds than people assume. Anything has to be better than the last two seasons' matchups with the Sharks :) I always enjoy the Det/Nsh series because I get to root for my two favorite teams at once: the Preds, and whoever is playing Detroit!

Trashville? Ha! That's pretty good and it's even better considering it's from a fan of the Dead Things. :wavey:

Remember, PastorSBC, Detroit still has all that unused confetti from the victory parades they didn't have in 2006.

Yes this is true. They might as well put victory parades on the calendar for both the Dead Wings and the Pistons

Now you both missed that I qualified that Detroit would win this year with an "if". I said IF they get decent goaltending, they will win the Cup.

My comment was directed more to whoever it was that guaranteed 2 victory parades in Detroit in 2006.

I forget who it was who said that, but it doesn't really matter who said it for me to make fun of it.

Edited to fix the mistake in my sentence.

I like that word "if"! The Dallas Stars will win the cup hands down IF they get passed the first, second, and third rounds. Oh yeah and IF they win the Champinship round.

    GO STARS! :applause: :applause: :applause:

Detroit wins 3-1. The go ahead was controversial, as the Preds cleared the puck but it hit the linesman (standing outside the blue line), bounced back in, and Det picked up the offside puck and scored. They later added an EN.

A good game other than the blown call. Det got more pucks on net, but lots of action both ends of the ice.
