Barack Obama will be the 44th President of the United States of America. Today, the Electoral College met and voted, confirming the will of the people. All that is left to do is for Congress to count the votes on Jan 6, and the inauguration on Jan 20.

January 20, 2009...the end of an error! May our new President have a successful tenure in office. He has so many challenges ahead, and needs the goodwill and prayers of us all. May God mightily bless our new President, our new Congress, our nation and this hurting world.

True, but since the media is reporting the tallys (even though they are not yet counted by the Senate) this is just a ceremonial formality. The results are known and reported.

I would like to say that, but, what does "a successful tenure" mean? If all restictions to abortions are ended, if he overtaxes the "so-called" rich, if he withdraws all troops from Iraq - ect - he may deem his been successful - if so then I trust he is not sucessful.

As I understand the situation in Iraq, our troops will be withdrawn by the end of 2011 by the dictates of the Iraqi government. Our government's wishes are irrelevant to the dictates of the Iraqi government on Iraqi soil.

    You are correct.

Personally, I have always been pro-military and will continue to be. My brother(Army) and brother-in-law(Air Force) both served in Vietnam. One of my great-nepthews(Army) served in Iraq a few years ago and my other great-nephew(Army) is currently serviing in Iraq.
