Note: I still like Ron Paul and want him to win and this thread is NOT in competition with the Paul thread. In the interest of maintaining civic responsibility, I'm pushing FT as the best alternative for those of us who want a principled small govt. guy who is electable. (Sorry to the Duncan Hunter people but he isn't going to win.)

    From FT's site:

Amen to that! Good stuff follows.

Like the other Republican choices, anyone is better than Romney or Giuliani.

As each day passes Ron Paul appears to be becoming more and more electable. Fred Thompson is clearly the only limited government candidate besides Ron Paul in the GOP field. If he won the nomination I would weigh voting for him compared to voting for the Libertarian Party candidate and vote for the candidate that I wanted to win.

    Zogby: Ron Paul will surprise

    Ethan Boivie
Posted at 11:13 pm in White House-2008

Pollster John Zogby, in his thoughts on the Republican field, declared that Ron Paul will “do better than anyone expects.” Zogby predicts double digits for Paul in Iowa, where a Washington Post/ABC News poll already showed Paul tied with Rudy Giuliani. In a crowded field, Paul stands out to young voters and free-marketers. Also, as the only anti-war Republican, he is poised to snag the roughly 1/4 of Republican voters opposed to the war.

After Iowa, Paul should have an easier road in libertarian-friendly New Hampshire and Michigan, where moderate voters, often ignored by pollsters, have been throwing support at Paul. Also promising for Paul is a Rasmussen report that Mike Huckabee’s favorability ratings plummeted in the last week amid extensive background checks. If Zogby is correct, with surprising showings in early states, Paul could replace Huckabee as the latest media darling just as the primary season hits its stride.

Looks like it will be Ron Paul or nothing for us limited government advocates as far as the two major parties are concerned.

Who does Fred hang out with? In a word...globalists.

Haven't we had enough harm caused by globalism already? Let's not get neo-conned again.
