Someone mentioned Chick Tracts on another thread and I wanted to know what people thought of them, but did not want to hijack the other thread.

    So...

What is your opinion of them?

I know I am behind the times, but who is Jack Chick? Secondly, what is wrong with the tracts, not necessarily his belief system?

    Click

    HERE

    to see Chick tracts.

I do not like the sensationalism and luridness Chick uses. Many are based on fallacious information as well.

This is exactly the issue! I didn't like them, but hadn't put any thought into why. This is it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't know anything about this fella. [IMG] I hear his name used as a curse alot of times but I don't know anything about him and never seen one of those tracts.
I will be looking into this later, thanks for the links.

His intentions are good, and I suppose some have been led to Christ because of his tracts. However, I completely agree with C4K.

I think his early tracks were very good and I used them a lot in the early to mid 70's. He then seemed to turn pretty mean in the later ones and the characatures were over the top to the point of dishonesty. The one in the opening post is excellent but I am concerned about people liking these early ones tand then being confused or turned off or mislead by the latter ones.

Chick has a habit of being fooled by fakes: fake former priests, witches, etc. So, his straight salvation tracts are good, but his topical tracts are suspect.

Chick Tracts do not seek the approval of politically correct language. They expose all evil and human foolishness.

If you don't like a particular tract, then choose from one of a hundred.

Each of their tracts ends with the gospel presentation of Jesus Christ and the requisite requirement of the LOOK of faith.

    Ascund, to some of us
Regretfully as noted above, Brother Chick's tracts have developed an unfortunate reputation.

Are you refering to the Alberto tracts and comic books?
Why do you say fakes? Are you saying Alberto is a fake?
I have read all of them and he seems to be right on to me.

All the Catholic tracts I've read, from chick, line up with my catholic uncles belief.

For getting his info from fakes, he seems to do a good job of getting it right.

Thank God Jack Chick dosen't listen to people like y'all, and keeps pressing on for the Lord!

According to Alberto the RCC literally invented Islam, Nazism and Communism.

    What a loony.

I love the tract on blaming the holocaust on the RCs for goodness sake.

Despite this many Catholics ended up in the same camps as the Jews and other undesirables.

Fr. Maximillian Kolbe was martyered because of his heroic act in such a place.

Absolutely. The Alberto story (in particular) is well debunked.

There are so many ludicrous things in his publications that they are an embarrassment, if not worse.

This is an ad hominem statement. Can you give us some examples? </font>[/QUOTE]Here's a classic, and unfortunately has been the source of much amusement for the unsaved. Mr. Chick doesn't have a very good grip on D&D if he thinks that players will role-play by themselves, much less do real magic.

    Oh, yeah, I voted I can't stand 'em. :D

Tentmaker, it appears that you don't understand what an ad hominem is - C4K criticized the tracts on their own (lack of) merits, not simply because Jack Chick produced them.
