I posted a news article that claims today, Jan. 24th, is the most depressing day of the year.

Are YOU down in the dumps?

I suppose I was in the "dumps" of the court house this morning, being called for jury duty. But when the shysters asked their questions I made sure to respond in rather sneering terms, and I was not picked

Are you serious? So you were dishonest just so you could get out of doing your civic duty? Sad.

What's sad is your inadequate reasoning and your incompetent conclusions at work here. I said I "respond[ed] in rather sneering terms." Nothing I said was dishonest in any way.

I went to bury a friend today.

Forgive me for my previous disrespectful bluntness. Sorry, blame it on the "naturalized citizen" in me. But I've always been brought up to take duty seriously. Serving on jury is my civic duty, and, if called, I will serve gladly and honorably. We Christians should not belittle such a thing.

I was quite happy on the day in question, and still am.

As for not wanting to be picked for jury service, I have actually served on a jury and would do so again. It is not only my civic duty but my Christian duty and part of the democracy we live in and I wish to support that. It is a shame Alcott didn't appear to see it that way.

    God Bless

What are you people saying? That I should have been a hypocrite and answered the questions in a manner which indicated I felt different about them than I really did?

No, it means you probably should have felt differently than you did.

Came in late on the thread [IMG]

Wasn't depressed on Jan 24th, and seeing Johnv refer to the jury thing as "civic duty" cracked me up so hard I doubt I'ld ever get down in the dumps again :D

I answered two days late - is that OK.

I said "I was not down in the dumps!"

I think your second possibility is a double negative - which actually means that you are down in the dumps!

Alcott, I think this remark is what's being attacked.
    Here's your button. [IMG]

I don't know who was down in the dumps on Jan. 24th but I found it odd that scientists claim to know what day the most people are down. Maybe, since we have HIS peace.... we're not 'the norm'.

Nope, not down in the dumps.

    January is almost over.

    February is a short month.

    March brings warmer weather! [IMG]
