As they have started to run ads advocating homosexual/lesbians as "reguklar" family units, and now hired Ellen D as their official spokesperson!

Founder was a devout Christian, refused to have sunday shopping, on the "Lords day"...

thankfully, he did not see where his company went!

You have something to tell us, Padre? :)

I saw a guy in a pink shirt, and written on it was "Don't laugh. This is your girlfriend's shirt."

I noticed JC Penny was a gay company about a month ago. We were walking through the store and oberved a sign that said "Men's Pants Half Off."

What's the connection? I don't shop at JC Penny to inform my biblical world view. I shop there because I can find clothes that fit at a good price. Every time I shop there I pay 8.25% in sales tax to my gay friendly county and state government. Should I refuse to pay sales tax, too?

The connection is maybe JC Penny shouldn’t be supported if they using their notoriety and have made it their business to take a stance that has nothing with why they are in the position of popularity in the first place.

First of all, JC Penny apparently doesn’t partake of the same level of neutrality as you but rather uses its large stage, given them by those who shop there which help support their cause (in which they chose NOT to remain neutral), to promote anti-Biblical doctrines which include degrading the family unit and to furthering the gay agenda.

Considering there are other options for shopping I think it reasonable for a Christian, at a minimum, to withdraw their support from those large organizations which pursue such agendas.

Further, isn’t there a common probability of what to expect when one side of an issue stands on neutrality while the other side proceeds against them? Personally, I see the message coming from the “ostrich with its head in the sand” story as a lesson in what NOT to do.

Finally, I am reminded of this connection:

“Tolerance is the virtue of the man without convictions.” ~ Gilbert K. Chesterton

P.S. concerning the government, although apples and oranges, we have a vote to be exercised under the similar principles and guidelines, which I would hope, if one is Christian, would be directed by his Christian values.

I don't see J C Penney promoting homosexuality. I see them being inclusive of gays in their marketing, but not marketing exclusively to them. Besides, there is nothing to promote. Someone is either homosexual or heterosexual. No promotion by a business changes that.

I don't shop there often, but have no problem with doing so. Their business, their right to market to whatever market segments they choose. Gay people buy things too.

Then why would you shop at any store that had an unsaved person as their spokesman? What could be more anti-Biblical than to reject Jesus Christ?

I hope you enjoy subsistance farming.

Why didn't you just say, "I think you're spineless."? It's less wordy.

I vote based on a Biblical world view. I live in New York. Our value-based candidates usually get crushed at the polls. Ask Salty! Our Governor just signed a bill allowing gay marriage in the state. I didn't vote for the feller but I have to pay taxes to the state he runs. What now? Civil disobedience?

As Jesus was dying on a hill called Golgotha, He said: "Father, forgive them, they know not what they do." Have we forgotten what the Lord has forgiven us?

Nothing wrong with a little boycott--in Christian love of course; letting the CEO know why you no longer trade there.

    Even so, come Lord Jesus.

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
    (Luk 6:45)

Now, please explain exactly how are JC Penny’s products distinguishable between homosexual and heterosexual usage to give weight to the need to take up this agenda?

It is evident their motives are solely based on promoting their beliefs to the public while standing on a platform that is provided to them by those who endorse their products, not their social, religious, moral value system.

They have clearly stepped outside the bounds of neutrality to promote the gay agenda. I’ve already made my point about sticking to neutrality when the *other side has chosen to advance their agenda against your principles.

    * ;) Should note that your true side and principles is in this matter is in no way clear to me to be on the same as mine while considering the types of values you often express as your priorities on this board. ;)

Frankly, if that unsaved person was using his unearned platform for an agenda to promote atheism, I wouldn’t shop there knowing it would result in supporting his cause, when I could easily choose to shop elsewhere.

As a matter of fact, I do enjoy exercising my right to support that which is good and abstain from supporting that which is not, especially when I have the ease to follow my conscience by selecting a better option.

Because that wouldn’t be nice considering your demeanor, you didn’t deserve such a harsh and insensitive response, and I don’t think your “spineless” …If you want the truth, I just think you’re conveniently failing to make the connection as to why you should make an easy choice to do what is right and good rather than give more opportunity to evil, and that some of those we love happening to be on the other side of the issue should probably not be a persuading factor for us to go against our convictions to choose rightly and take some action in a case such as this.

I glad you’d vote based on a Biblical world view; I would expect that from you. I feel for any Christian who has to live under the liberal policies and agendas of states such New York or California. Personally, I'd probably move. Don't believe me ask my children. But, I fail to see how any of that supports a decision to not act according to one’s conscience of what is right or wrong concerning the free and easy choice to withdrawal support of an obvious agenda that is blatantly supporting an anti-Biblical doctrine and using your money to do so.

I think whether a christian shops at JC penny is clearly a personal freedom issue, not one that can be pointed to say someone is sinning if they have a different issue. This is so clearly a parallel to Paul's eating meat sacrificed to idols. If JC Penny promotes Homosexuality, it doesn't mean their Khahki shorts are endued with evil... Just like the meat in paul's day was just meat.

If I get one of those "$10 off any item over $10" coupons in the mail... I'm heading over to JC Penny to find me some $10.99 khaki shorts!

If you want to boycott every company that supports anti-christians causes...you're going to have a hard time!

It is not about products. If you ever did any business studies, you would know about the "Four 'P's of the Marketing Mix"...Product, Price, Place, Promotion. This falls into the Promotion quadrant. Companies promote the same products to different consumer groups in ways that are meaningful to them, at least that is the goal.

I am sorry, but I have no idea what you are trying to say here.

I will add that this is no different than companies promoting products to other groups. I am not in the target market for many commercials I see on television. Some are geared toward teens, others to young men in their 20s, others to females in their 40s. They are not trying to reach my demographic with those ads. Same for the Penney's adds. Apparently, their executives believe that they are reaching out to a group of consumers, and possible customers, that has been largely ignored in the past. If they didn't think it would result in more sales, they wouldn't do it. It is not about promoting an agenda...it's about the great American capitalist system.
