    Jn 14:6

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Do we see what Christ says here ? Many who lack understanding, takes this statement of Christ here to merely mean, that He is the only way to God the father as it pertained to Him then while speaking, and afterwards, but that is a mistake, for He has always, since the beginning of the World hath the only way to God, because He was always the Mediator between God and Men 1 Tim 2:5

    5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

He has been that ever since there were men,m beginning with Adam ! That is in fact what His words mean here in Jn 14:6, that He has always been Mediator !

He was made known of here Gen 3:15, and one of the seed elect gave evidence of having been taught that way by his sacrifice Heb 11:4

By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

This sacrifice made it known that Abel knew that Christ's , the coming seed, that His sacrifice was the only way to God and acceptance with Him ! God had showed him His Covenant !

And, following him [Abel] all the true men and women of faith gave evidence of knowing the way, through the seed of the woman, later revealed as Abraham's seed, and later David's seed. Yes even Job had been given to realize the way, the Redeemer Job 19:25

For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

Job here is speaking about Jesus Christ ! and he understood that He even then existed or was living ,up in Heaven !

Peter wrote that men of old believed in God by Him [Jesus the Mediator] 1 Pet 1:20-21

20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

All OT Saints knew that their Salvation was contingent upon the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, for what did the Old Saint speak here when he held the babe in his hands ? Lk 2:25-32

25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,

29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:

30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

    31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

What Salvation ? The Salvation the prophets foretold 1 Pet 1:10

Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

Now was it not made evident that Simeon's Faith had rested in Christ ? Or why would he say what he did in vs 30 !

No other name had been given under Heaven whereby men must be saved, even old Simeon could testify of that fact ! Yes, the same Salvation Simeon testified of in the babe Christ, is the same peter refers to here in Acts 4:12

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

    Heb 13:8

8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

    Jn 14:6

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

    Gee whizzickers,

I suppose that means He is doing the same stuff today through His strong believers (i.e. those w/o unbelief)
that He did 2000 years ago!

But, to be used to do the stuff, you need the super-powerful spiritual "gift of faith" (1 Cor 12:9).

Yesireee Bob, I guess that's what it means all right.

Let's see now ... what was that stuff anyway ... someone'll need to remind me.

P.S. sorry to bore you with trivialities ... carry on as per usual.

    Speaking of the truth....

Can you explain for me how someone can know if they are "one of the elect chosen in Christ before the world began"?

By receiving jesus as your saviour by faith!

IF you have accepted Him as your only hope to be saved, you are one of the Elect!

Paul lost the power to heal though, as He was with his infirmity, and Timothy had to rely upon wine for his ailments!

IF God never came to earth, IF he did not die upon the Cross, NO atonemnt offerred, ALL damned!

he HAD to come to earth and die and be raised for ANY of us to receive our justification before God, and that was ONLY done by nature of his death on the Cross!

That does NOT mean Paul lost his ability to heal people.

Yes, if you have a powerful confirmation by the Holy Spirit.
But, IMO, the elect must allow themselves to be progressively sanctified unto (i.e. towards) holiness.
How far they have to go with this probably depends on the individual, similar to the varying age of accountability.

    Just IMO.

Thats error ! The elect are sanctified by God before they are born as was Jer 1:5

5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

And God sanctifies His People wholly, and they do not have to allow Him, He's God !

    1 Thess 5:23-24

23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Yes, God's prophets were a VERY special breed of cat.
They HAD to be clean for God to use them in His very special way.
Not so, for people like you.
Hey, we're not getting into election vs. free will here!

God testified to the gospel that Paul preached with signs, miracles, and wonders.

All God's People are special that Christ died for ! Titus 2:14

14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

    The word peculiar means:

that which is one's own, belonging to one's possessions

    a) a people selected by God from the other nations for his own possession

Well God's People, the God I serve anyway, His People are One in the OT and NT. All God's People are the Children of Abraham in both Testaments. Gal 3:29

29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Jeremiah was no more God's people than Cornelius was in Acts 10 !

It's even worse the leaps the OP takes in connecting the verse, to their thought, where in most cases it's an olympian leap of presumption.

If it's CHRIST who is the same today and yesterday, (scripture says it's God, not Christ, and in scripture they are kept separate, by GOD's choice, not man's), so you start off in the very question, presuming eisegetics.

So, when GOD told the Jews in the OT that they would be atoned for with the Sacrifices, you believe they went to hell because they weren't believing in Christ. :| Snorts..

It seems like if you were chosen before time began, you aren't choosing crap. You just are, or you aren't.

IF you have to choose, and that is part of what GOD does to bring a chosen one to Him, then there is no need to discuss calvinism, because if you are chosen you will choose him, thus anyone you talk to, could be one of the chosen if you just help them in a relationship with God. So that arrogance many calvinists have, the "I'm chosen so I'm smug and sure of myself", shouldn't be showed at all, they could be sticking their nose up at someone else that is chosen/called, just God hasn't turned their magic switch on yet.
