I agree with Albert Mohler on this one.

"I do not doubt the evangelistic sincerity of those who lead this ministry. This is a question of judgment, principle, and strategy -- not a question of motivation. Furthermore, I am quite certain that middle class evangelicals are far too risk-averse in evangelistic outreach to those outside our comfort zones. This is to our shame."

I heard Gross speak locally. His ministry is quite effective in helping Christians deal with porn, along with those in the industry get out of it.

I don't know if I would have put that slogan on a Bible, though. T-shirts and bumper stickers are one thing. They are young guys, though, and they will make mistakes along the way. The slogan it true, though, Jesus does love porn stars...and murdereres, rapists, child molesters, i.e., sinners.

Until we as Christians are willing to go where these guys are going with the Word, we need to shut up about how they're doing it. How many pastors, deacons or even just Christians do you know that would go to these conventions to reach these people that need to hear the message? Honestly, I wouldn't go, because of the temptations I would encounter. I'm thankful that they do go.

Amen! Even in the interview, Pastor Gross states this:

"If they have another approach, if they have another idea, come join us," Gross said. "We're here riding solo here. There's nobody else doing this. … Sure we're gonna maybe make some mistakes along the way but we're trying."

So, until someone comes up with a better plan, or an offer to help, I have to agree with Joshua, we shoulnd't be so critical of them and their method. Anyone here want to email Pastor Gross with an offer to help?

When your building aministry from scratch with no other ministries as model your going to get somethings wrong, your going to mess up somewhere. Hopefully you can learn from it, correct it, and make your ministry better, stronger.
While it doen't seem like a good idea, if you've got a better one, start a ministry and do it, then let them know what works, by experience.

Don't criticise another man until you've walked a mile in his shoes. Three reasons for that:-

    1. You get a free pair of shoes.
    2. He loses his shoes so can't run very fast to catch you...but even if he can...
    3. You've got a mile's head start on him!

But, seriously, folks, these guys are doing a brave and vlauble ministry.

[IMG] Brave and valuable, indeed. "They boldly go where no man has gone before...." Where have I heard that? My hats are off to them. In my former church, we had a ministry that reached out to the Platnium(sp?) Plus strippers that were here at the time until the place was shut down. Our church, not me, actually got some of the girls out of stripping and prostituting. I'm glad someone can do these things that surely are pleasing to God.

These replies are refreshingly kind and insightful.

It helps us, from time to time, to be reminded that Jesus does, indeed, love porn stars -- and everyone else.

    Thanks.

AS long as they get the Word, who cares what it looks like??
