    Hi all!

I've been learning alot about the Jewish cultural and history and I have found that this new understanding has given me a better perspective on the Bible! Knowing what life was like for say Paul during the time of Christ and after has been great! Did anyone see that show on CNN in December "After Jesus"?

Have any of you found this to be true as well? The more I can learn and understand, the closer I feel to God.

I have found this to be true, esp. in ancient history in the near east and Bible geography. The only thing is that you have to be careful about the mainstream histories. As a rule, historians discount the BIble and most accounts in it as innacurate at best.

It's a good idea for Christians to know Jewish History and Culture.

I should at least check out a book or two from the library.

    Sk8rMom,

I quite agree with you. In seminary I did a class called NT Backgrounds and my textbooks were Backgrounds of the NT by Everrett Ferguson and NT Backgrounds: Selected Documents by CK Barrett. If you can read this books, please read them. They are highly recommended by NT scholars.

Hope of Israel Ministries has a great Baptist perspective from a converted Jew to help with Jewish tradition.

Brother K. Daniel Fried is the director and a personal friend of mine.

Tell him The Salamander sent ya.

I posted two links. You might be able to find some of the books from the links at the library.
