More false teaching and skirting truth. My wife just said, "Well, he won't be on Oprahs favorites list anymore for calling h*mosexuality a sin."

Oprah had to insert her favorite "theological" sugar-stick, and that is that there are many ways to God, and sought for Joel to tickle her ears. Oh how people love to talk of religion but not of sin, exclusion, being lost, &c.

It's of great interest that everyone (I'm sure there are a few fools out there who don't) wants to get to Heaven, but so many want to go around Christ to get there. Why? Because He is a Rock of offense, a stone of stumbling; 1 Peter 2:8. They stumble at this because the are disobedient (contrary to their claim to be on their way to Heaven on another path); 1 Peter 2:8. The cross is an offense and is foolishness to those who are perishing; 1 Cor. 1:18. As thieves and robbers they seek to climb in some other way; John 10:1.

I won't say too much here other than those who practice a certain thing are not a race as Oprah presumes.

    - Peace

    Hey FAL, Be Careful....

Well, he did say that homosexuality was a sin according to the scripture. That is true. And he implied that homosexuality and pride and lying were all equally offensive to God. That's true, too.

I have a bigger problem with his view of Jesus Christ.

What does that even mean?!?!? :BangHead: :BangHead:

What do you say his view of Jesus is that you disagree with?

What does it mean when he says there are many paths to Jesus? It means he is a pandering false teacher.

By teaching that there are multiple ways to Jesus, Osteen is presenting a false Christ.

Jesus never said that about Himself.

Wonder how many faithfully turned in to Oprah last night, but wouldn't spend an hour in God's house Sunday morning?

Wonder how many spend more hours with Oprah than they spend reading God's word each week?

Wonder how many more books Osteen will sell today? Will Wal-Mart's display of his "stuff" be empty by tonight?

Wonder if God has a special place in the lake of fire for those using Christ's blood for their own personal agenda and gain?

No, brother. Go back and read his quote. He agreed with Oprah that there were "multiple paths to God". And he explained that by saying that there were multiple ways to get to Jesus.

He did what he always does. He skirts the issue. He doesn't want to offend anyone.

Being gay is not a sin. Practicing homosexuality is a sin.

    Osteen's quote:
Osteen kills me. As much as he tries to water it down. It always seems to splash right back in his face. He just told gay people in a very friendly way that their very essense is equivalent to dishonesty.

Yup. That will go over really well in the gay community.

Yes you are right. Osteen knows believes Jesus is the only way.

Osteen is being ambiguous by playing linguistic games. He is fully aware that "multiple paths to God" Oprah is speaking of is from a universal perspective. He is speaking from a situational/experiential work of the Holy Spirit in each individual from all walks of life.

There is no difference! One is the choice to lust for the same gender and the other is the choice to carry that lust out. Both stem from sinful hearts and are sin.

OK. Let's put it this way for evangelist6589 and ourselves:

    • Jesus is God.

    • Osteen says there are many ways (paths) to Jesus.

    • This means to Osteen there are many ways to God.

    • Conclusion: He's a false teacher.

Frankly, no one comes to Jesus just anyway they want. Think about it. It's not about doing it in the first place, it is about Him doing it. Osteen is pandering to the religious in what he is saying.

Does this mean a person who comes to Jesus for WOF objectives, that is, to gain wealth, health, is saved in doing this? Not hardly. But this is the type of message he preaches, come to Jesus for success in this life. Perhaps he's not strictly by definition a WOF, but his message comes to the same end.

In this false Gospel of health, wealth, and success, being saved from sins becomes secondary language. When the entire purpose of salvation, that is, to be saved from sins becomes secondary language within the talk, belief, objective of the "believer" and the "preacher" then they have a false Gospel, or, to express it another way, a false "Good News."

Not only this, but the Jesus that is being presented in this message looks completely different than the Jesus I see within the Scriptures.

    - Peace

A gay person is a sinner and practicing homosexuality is a sin. The body of believers is full of gay people who refuse to act out their tendencies and urges through the strength of the Holy Spirit.

I am afraid that you, as well as many in the church, have bought into the modernism of today and you are trying to separate something that is not able to be separated. Gay is not the opposite of heterosexual. Gay is a mind set from unnatural lust brought on by a sinful heart. The Lord said if a man looks on a woman to lust for her he has already committed adultery in his heart. The same applies in this case. Both homosexual and gay are the same thing and both are sin stemming from inward lusts. One does not have to carry out the sin in action to make it any less a sin.
