You guys gonna go the low road with cardboard covers and glue, or are you going to go in the Lord's way and go with cloth covers, sewn and stitched?

    RB Response

    RB,

You know how things are done! You know the answer to your question before you even asked it!

I would have hand written them and glued them myself if I could get them published!!! It is worth that much to me!

    John A Broadus ISBN 3

To all who have an interest:

I have just received the ISBN # on the Broadus Project from the publisher. Here is his quote exactly:

"Roger the ISBN # is 978-0-8054-4738-5."

I hope all of you who buy it or read it find it helpful.

    Enjoy!

Thanks for any and all consideration.

    Broadus Follow Up Info

To all who have an interest:

First, there will be a major symposium at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in February '08 based on the Broadus Project. Many of the contributors to the work, including yours truly, will be giving papers based on contributions made to the work. Dr. Mohler is also supposed to speak. I think the dates are Feb. 11 & 12? Mark your calendar!

Secondly, and I have nothing to do with this personally. The Broadus work will not come out until the Fall of 2008 according to B & H.

Thirdly, it is supposed to cost about $19.95 tentatively.

These events (#1 & 2 above) should line up well b/c of the sesquicentennial of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary is in 2009.

    Thanks,

    FYI!

    Broadus Project Update

To all who have an interest in John A. Broadus and Southern Seminary:

Above you will see the ISBN # the "Broadus Project" has been given.

    Update:

I was sent a "First Pages" copy of the final mss one week ago. I am reading, editing, and proofing it for the final time. I (we) are supposed to have it back to B & H for printing on or around May 1.

It is supposed to be published on July 1.

It is supposed to be released on Aug 1.:applause:

There is a "Broadus Symposium" at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary scheduled for Sept 8 & 9.

I hope each of you will buy 10 copies  and give them to young SBC and other Baptist preachers who may not know who their American forebears may have been or what they have done or upon whose shoulders they stand.

    That is all!

    BF,

I hope all is well with you, doing God's will, and serving Him in a meaningful way, in good health.

I am not going to go back through the entire thread. But, the Broadus Project book should be entitled:

John A. Broadus: A Living Legacy

We have Tom Nettles, Timothy George, James Patterson, David Dockery, one secular historian, a couple of young and upcoming scholars whom you will hear more about and from in the future no doubt, and yours truly.

One chapter most will find very interesting is a chapter done on the "lost Yale Lectures" that Broadus gave in 1889 (I believe). This chapter is worth the price of the work alone.

I will keep all of you posted.

    Broadus Update

To all who have an interest in Broadus:

I have just given and academic paper at the Southeastern Regional Meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society that met @ Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary on:

"John A. Broadus, Rhetoric, and The Treatise on the Preparation and Delivery of Sermons"

It was excerpted from my chapter of the same name and the forthcoming book: John A. Broadus: A Living Legacy.

While at the conference, I also talked to one of the B & H editors, and he said the project looked "good to go" (my words not his, but you get my understanding!).

    This is FYI!

    "That is all!"

Ironically, I just read the email outlining the sessions. I wouldn't have been able to attend anyway. Was this recorded???

    Tom,

I am supposed to send Dr. Steve Cox an "e-copy" of my mss. to post on Mid America's web page for later this month.

You can go there and read the papers, but no, as fare as I know they were not audio recordings made except for the plenary speakers.
