There is something not right or suspiciously wrong about that article. Who on earth would take such a book into Pakistan, especially into one of the most volatile regions of Pakistan, knowing full well that it would invoke outrage and possible rioting.

Shariat Law has been imposed in Pakistan. Along with that there has been imposed a Defammatin Law, which states that if any one defames the name of Mohammed in any way and be found guilty he could suffer the death penalty. That book definately falls into that category. You are putting your life on the line in the distribution of such a book or even in the very possession of the copy of one. To talk of "religious freedom" among the Muslims in Pakistan; well, there is none. It is the second largest Islamic nation in the world, an Islamic republic, run by a dictator--General Musharaff Pervaiz, who basically has the contry under martial law. To try to convert a Muslim to Christianity is against the law. For a Muslim to convert to Christianity is against the law.

Why would anyone bring such a book into Pakistan under those circumstances?

I am glad that Books are not banned in America .. although I have heard of some people who would like to censor what't in our libraries ... Like Harry Potter, C. S. Lewis to mention a couple. If we were given a shot and the freedom to choose an author to ban .. John MacAuthur would be my first choice. Hurrah for the Pakistanis ...
