It is behavior like this from the establishment that won Trump the election in spite of his immoral lifestyle.

Good for him. What did you want him to do, hide it? Destroy it?

...And the FBI had already possessed a copy for several months, so McCain didn't give them anything they didn't already have.

Hardly. He did what was entirely appropriate. If you have information that alleges that a major Washington figure is being compromised by the Russians, it is your patriotic duty to give it to an investigative agency for review.

If McCain had received information like this about Obama and turned it over to the FBI, would you be pitching a fit about his actions? I doubt it.

Why do you doubt it. Quite the accusation and personal insult there. Did he insult you? For what is reason to you treat him with such hostility? Are you sure this is the behavior you want to engage in?

There's a context for this. If he will claim that he would be opposed to John McCain turning over this material if it referred to President Obama, then I will gladly and publicly apologize.

    Let's see what he does.

Its not necessary and it is childish. He can be opposed to this without having to bring up the other.

Is it true? That's the real question.

And why in the world would anyone be opposed to anyone reporting a matter of national security to an investigative agency for further analysis?

Loyal citizens do that very thing. Disloyal citizens worry about whether or not it helps their political agenda.

You are assuming some things about the poster of the op that you cannot substantiate. You also appear, at least, to have a very narrow and myopic view of the possibilities of being against this. I suggest you broaden your mind and ask for more clarification before trying to paint someone as you have.

McCain has a long history of liberalism. He has been vehemently against Trump not just for moral or ethical reasons. He is a RINO at best. Conservatives everywhere do not think much of him. I like the poster of the op am suspicious that McCain only wanted to discredit Trump with info unsubstantiated and from a questionable source. This whole thing has been debunked not only by the false details of the story but by James Clapper himself that called Trump and apologized.

Then please broaden my mind as to why a loyal citizen should opposed to turning over information regarding a major threat to national security to the appropriate investigative agency.

"If you see something, say something." Right?

    Stop right there.

You realize that the FBI had everything that McCain turned over to the FBI last August since it has been circulating around Washington since around that time, right? Apparently McCain got his hands on it in December and turned it over to the FBI. They already had the information several times over, so McCain didn't reveal anything to the FBI that was not already known. Whether or not he is/was a "liberal" is completely irrelevant.

Moreover, shouldn't a "liberal" also be concerned about matters of national security?

    Irrelevant.

    Irrelevant.

The "No True Scotsman" fallacy. Even so, it is still irrelevant.

By turning it over to the FBI? McCain is not an investigator. Neither are you. Materials like that should go to the FBI. Any speculation about motivations are irrelevant.

The "whole thing" has not been debunked.

Even if it has been or will be, it still should have been turned over to the FBI.

Your sad attempt to attack McCain for doing what any good and loyal citizen should do reveals terrible things about you.

    I stand by my statements.

If McCain knew what he had was already in the hands of the FBI I doubt he would have messed with it. Just because the FBI already had it doesn't remove the motivation from McCain. Sorry it doesn't work that way.

Either way your accusations of the poster of the op do not promote civil discourse.

    That's a big IF.

Moreover, why do you think he would not have ensured that they had it?

I would be highly motivated to turn over information like that no matter if I agreed with the politician or not. It's called patriotism.

You are lecturing me on civil discourse? :Laugh

You still won't deal with the real issue here.

IS APPROPRIATE TO TURN IN ANY INFORMATION YOU HAVE REGARDING THE POSSIBLE COMPROMISE OF OUR NATION'S LEADERSHIP BY A FOREIGN POWER TO THE APPROPRIATE INVESTIGATIVE AGENCY?

Any answer other than yes throws serious doubt on your patriotism.

If you answer yes, you have made my point - unless you wish to "broaden my mind" with relevant information.

In my opinion, BuzzFeed should not have released the memo. CNN did nothing inappropriate as far as I can tell. President-elect Trump actually confirmed everything that CNN reported.

No it is not. It was prudent to pass it to the appropriate agency.
