That is one thing I really admire about Piper. He gives away just about anything if you can't afford to donate for it. Obviously they'd like you to donate, but they clearly state that they don't want the lack of funds to be an issue. Plus, all of his sermons are downloadable (for free) online.

I like this site but I only have luck navigating it at work. When I go to it on the home computer the print is extremely small. Does anyone else have this problem?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Besides the other odd things he teaches, he is now no longer considering baptism necessary to be baptist. I would have cut and pasted the quote, but it was an image.

I would like El_Guero to tell us a book that is worth his money. I own just about every Piper book and his books are worth every penny. His Reformed theology views are right on target with what the bible teaches. I read his online books nearly every week from my desk at work.

BEFORE you PM me or tell me I am opinionated, READ PIPER!

Do I like ALOT OF WHAT HE TEACHES? yes.

Most Christians only remember what they want to remember of Piper.

    He is misquoted very often.

The Bible is worth my money.

And it is worth my blood and the blood of many other believers.

It is on my recommended reading list.

El G - I am not in favor of recent decisions by Piper concerning Baptism. Think he should be honest and remove "Baptist" from his church name, if they will not uphold basic Baptist distinctives.

That said, he is an excellent writer, usually "right on", strongly calvinistic (which is biblical) and expositional. Never will be a John MacArthur or a Bob Griffin, but close!! [IMG]

    Dr. Bob,

I truly thank you for pointing out the obvious. He is a great teacher. Not as great as I would like, but a great teacher to his flock.

    Brothers and sisters,

I apologize to each and every one of you if in my reaction to what was PM'd me, I have misspoken in any way. That is to include any exaggeration in speech that might be taken as negative to Piper or his teaching.

I am not saying that I agree with all of his teaching.

But, I am saying that the intensity of my prose was brought about by a very heated PM. In that PM I was called a liar amongst other things. And in that PM I was reminded of a grievous sin. As a Man of God, I react to grievous sin in righteous anger.

After reviewing my on line post, I do not think I
responded badly even in my anger.

But, if I caused you any pain, I apologize.

If you wish to attack me, attack on the open board.

I pray that openness might lead you to kinder words.

And I pray that you are not using 'company time' for your attacks.

    Convicted,

I know where to find the information. Dr. Bob seemed to know what I was referring to.

But, you spend company time every week reading Piper and you are not aware of his church and their struggle over the last thre (3) years to move away from baptism for membership?

And you attack me in PM again? On company time?

I'd like to read that quote. I couldn't find anything like it on the page that you linked. When I got that via email the other day, and when I just read it again, I cam to a different conclusion than that. I think it would be closer to what they are aiming at to say that they no longer consider it necessary to be Baptist to be a member of their church.

I am not on board yet, but I am also not 100% sure that I disagree. I think the Bible is clear that a practicing adulterer should be denied membership, but I am not so sure that a baby-baptizer should be. If you do not mind, why do you (or anyone else) think they are doing the wrong thing? To put it their way, why should the door to local church membership be narrower than the door to the universal church?
