    Interesting. ;-)
    The KJV team needed better editors.
    Souls is interchangeable with people many times but the KJV construction is kind of funny here.
    Why did the KJV retain so much old-fashioned phraseology compared with the earlier Geneva Bible?
    These days people wax their floors,cars or surfboards.

    Especially in the Old Testament the KJV does use "souls" as sometimes interchangeable with "people" or "persons", but what is stated in Joshua 11:11 in the KJV could be understood to conflict with the New Testament teaching that men cannot kill, slay, or smite the soul (Matthew 10:28).
