Think about these Republicans who have refused to back Trump and refuse to vote for him. Here is there theory; we work to get Trump defeated and in four years we will get a new nominee to go against Hillary. What they don;t realize is Trump is not going anywhere if he loses this time. They will have to deal with him again in four years and probably will have to deal with an even stronger candidate in Donald Trump. They didn't think this through. Their best chance to get rid of Trump was to get him elected now and in four years after he bombs the way they believe he will they could wipe him out for good. Now if they succeed in stopping Trump now, they will have to deal with a more powerful Trump again in four years. And these Republicans who have their eye on the Presidency are stuck until trump either wins it and does his time or he falls ill or dies. They are really playing this stupidly. They should have backed him and got it over with.

Backing Trump condemns them forever for simply being opportunists or toddies of the radical right wing and the white nationalists. They might win a local race, but never a national one.

I'm mostly a Trump supporter, and I think he's done if this round goes south.

He's too old to try again, and he would have the baggage from losing. He could just go back to doing what he does best.

I believe his ego is too big. As long as he keeps his health he will be around for quite awhile, if only to stay a thorn in the sides of those politicians who lobbied against him. It's personal with him, he won't go away.

Nevertrumper are being very smart to make a stand against him now. I read somewhere that after the election, nevertrumpers will come out of the wood work. I think that the GOP will spend the next few years reworking the rules so that someone with only 40% of the votes doesn't win, and to prevent crossover democrat from picking the opponent again.

I think his ego is precisely why he wouldn't run again. There is no point in risking a second loss.

Now could he remain a force in the GOP? Sure, just not as a presidential candidate. Arguably, that could make him more influential on the party as a whole (lower accountability levels...lower even than now), second only to winning the presidency on the first go.

It could be like the Sarah Palin experience, except Trump has 100X the media savvy and cash. Plus he's not...you know...as unhinged as Palin usually is.

I agree with you on this one. If Trump loses, the GOP primary system will get sent to the transmission shop for a full rebuild.

No they won't. They might have to deal with his supposed network and the new band of Fox News type crazies that flock to it. But as a candidate for the GOP, he is DONE!

Yes they did. They made him. They fed him and now he's their Frankenstein.

Right, because parties tend to vote out incumbent Presidents for new candidates lol. That's just silly. That's as good as telling the American public our candidate didn't know what he was doing. But please vote for our new candidate.:Biggrin

I know you NEED Trump to win. But you're getting silly now.

Nice spin. But the Never Trumpers need to remain steadfast and he'll find something else that interests him while talking about how good a President he would have been.

Naah. He's the nail in the coffin for the GOP in Presidential elections for some time to come.

I think the crazy part of the GOP base was looking at him as their last great hope as the country pushes Whites into the minority, and that's perhaps why a lot of folks who shouldn't be supporting his insane behind are.

Now that's an interesting choice of idiom to describe them.

yeah it's fitting for those who will change their tune after the election. All the people who either sat on the sideline, or worse helped Trump until he betrayed them *Ann Coulter* will have a fun time spinning how they were not actually for him if he loses in the epic fashion I expect it to be.

In four years Trump will get over 50% of the vote. He will be campaigning non stop if not elected this round. The GOP is stuck with Trump at the very least spoiling the GOP candidate for the foreseeable future. They should have just hoped he got elected this time and gotten it over with.

We'll see. i predict he will run and if he loses the GOP he will run third party and the GOP will just keep on losing. Trump LOVES the attention whether he loses or not. Losing is not an issue with him in politics for he will just point to the rigged system, he will not see himself as a loser.

It's a shame that folks would even suggest such a thing. And folks in the GOP have the audacity to say that Barack is racially divisive, but they have no trouble supporting DT. Incredible.

Now that is correct. I don't foresee him going gentle into that good night. He shall be the GOP's albatross and one of the reasons (along with the proliferation of bigots from which Millennials flee) why I don't see them winning another Presidential election in the next 20 or so years.

50% is never going to happen. No doubt he will keep on campaigning until the free press dries up, and then he will be relegated to a corner of the internet. Trump fatigue is guaranteed to set in at some point (granted its taken longer than I expected, but human nature is always looking for something new and exciting and eventually he will not be able to shock people anymore), and the press will have to search out a new ratings avenue.

We'll see. I thought the same thing a year ago and I had to face the facts. I believe if you looked it up I said Trump was done about half a dozen times in threads past. I could care less if he gets elected, that is up to God, but my opinion at this point is Trump is here to stay for quite awhile and if not the nominee for the GOP he will be the GOP spoiler for the next few elections.

The Trump party left me with this cycle. I still consider myself a right wing, tea partier conservative, and the Trump party is none of that. Although I will say this if this election can break the 2 party stranglehold I will be all for it. I think there will be a day of reckoning for the Dems, as Bernie showed the rift between the Dems establishment and the younger more liberal voices, but with the GOP selling its soul to Trump the Dems can hold it together for a bit longer.

Which would prove that all the cry from Trump supporters about "party unity" is only for show. Now I have no problem voting for 3rd party, but if in 4 years Trump runs as a spoiler all of his current supporters that get on anyone for voting 3rd party this election will show their hypocrisy by voting 3rd party in 2020
