The ESV because of the ESV superiority over other modern versions.

I was thinking the same thing!!! Mine has the 1873 KJV, NIV, NLT, and NASB!

But if the OP meant one translation, I would go with the NET with the notes....

This is a prime example of why we in America are soo blessed!

You are correct: the ESV is essentially the RSV. I've read James 1 in both the RSV and the ESV and they are virtually identical.

The NRSV has its weaknesses, but its strengths compensate. I do like you parallel, but you have to put the NRSV somewhere there.

    You're right about that.

At any rate, I'm excited about my TNIV.

If I could only pick one (disregarding the posts about parallels you wise guys,) I would go with the NET, because I don't know Greek/Hebrew, and I think the translators notes are priceless. Also, the Net is not a true word for word, but something of a word/thought for word/thought Bible. And since the Autographs are ALL lost, the only thing left today is translations of copies. Thus the need for translators notes.

    Morning chaps,

I wondered how long both side were going to continue to "be good.' I woke up this morning to find out long :) .

You will note that I have deleted an entire off topic conversation. While I find the "shouting" provocative, I reasoned that anyone who wants to "shout out" their favourite version is free to do so.

It took me a while to delete each post. If that rears its head again I will just close and delete the thread.

Well, at least I am an equal opportunity cutter outer :).

BTW, I was sorely tempted myself to drag this one off topic :).
