have to agree with blackbird, but I also respect Kathy's point of view...

...blackbird: Yes, Jesus even got exhausted from walking and preaching. He got thirsty and asked a Samaritan gal for a drink. He got hungry and tried to pick a fig from a worthless fig tree (I think symbolic of Israel at that time).

So Jesus was NOT a superhuman. That is almost like the Gnostic belief that Jesus was a spirit who merely appeared to be in the flesh, which First John epistle says is Anti-Christ doctrine.

So this Passion movie is verging dangerously close to Gnostic Anti-Christ doctrine.

Can't people see all the false, spiritually dangerous views and beliefs this horrible film is instilling in people?

Sorry, no offense Kathy or diane or whomever, but there is, to me, no way around the heresy and historical inaccuracy (RE: Pilate being such a nice chap, etc.) and masochistic mystic delirious visions as influence to mr. mel.

If someone like the Passion film, I have nothing to say about what anyone's emotional reaction to anything is...but if they say "it is exactly what happened" as our woefully stupid evangelical leaders keep spouting mindlessly, they are LYING because they KNOW their Bibles, they know it is full of inaccuracies scripturally.

What a shame. Forget the leaders. Follow The Only Real Leader, Jesus Christ Pantocrator (Ruler of All). The only 100% reliable Leader.
The Head of the Church, which is His Body.

I take no offense to your statements whatsoever vaspers...you feel strongly about this and you should definitely stand up for what you believe, for that I commend you!

I just wanted to say tho, that no one has asked, coerced (sp?) or forced me to see the movie...I went of my own accord. I do not regret that decision whatsoever. I will say tho, that I won't recommend the film to non-believers because I really don't think it has any impact on them because they have not accepted Christ as their Saviour...they won't see what true sheep will see anyway, so, in my opinion, it is not an effective witnessing tool. On the contrary, the Passion Plays that us Baptists put on every year just about this time ARE effective because the Pastor takes the stage afterwards and sums up what Jesus did for us and explains how to live for Him. THAT is effective.

    I'm affected, that's all.

I just returned from seeing this movie. I was moved and think that everyone should see it. I know many won't do it; it's your choice. For me, it helped me to visually see what I have read in the Scripture for years. Yes I know everything was not 100% factual. Yes I know that we do not know all the details of what actually took place, but it was much more realistic than any other movie I have seen about Jesus' death.

One thing that really bothers me is how someone like Scarlett comes here and is lamblasted because this movie has helped her to more fully understand what Jesus did for her. Scarlett, don't let these people cause you to be discouraged, you do not answer to what they think or what they say.

As far as those who do not want to see the movie, fine, don't see it. You don't have to, it's alright. Just don't tell everyone who does see it just how wrong they are.

Not saying the people are "wrong"--just saying, and will continue to say--the film is WRONG.

Here's why some object to the saying "helped me more fully understand":

    1. You understand, not the truth of what happened to Jesus, but a fairy tale myth of what Mel and pain-freak mystic A.C.Emmerich think MIGHT have happened, even if it contradicts the Bible story.

    2. You are responding to Mel's love of ultra-violence and fringe cult ideas regarding Mary, Veronica, Judas, Jesus dangling on a chain from a cliff, etc.

    3. You are responding to a big marketing push, with dubious, perhaps devious techniques foisted on the unthinking "evangelical" leadership, who should know better.

    4. You are funding a fringe church cult of Mel's.

    5. You could have been so powerfully affected by the Holy Spirit making the Word come alive in your soul, the PURE story, the REAL, no additives, no heresy, authentic story, the God ordained means of salvation--the Word of the Living God. God left out the gore and explicit scourging details FOR A REASON. Go search it out.

Sorry, no lambasting of individuals is intended.

We are all one in Christ, no matter our opinions.
