Your sources do not address the veracity of the story in question.

Actually when you see that CNSNews is being used to attack the messenger(Jack Murtha) , it does question the veracity of that cyber news agency and furthermore when Brent Bozell III has had a history of attacking Murtha's character without just cause that becomes a good reason to question the reason for the sole existence of CNSNews.

My sentiments exactly . Brent Bozell III is just a paid gun for the Bush administration using his staff of writers to smear anyone who opposes his Master.

Won't wash.

What you're saying is you can't refute the story , so you try to discredit the author.

I can understand any disagreement you may have with the conclusions drawn by the writer, however the facts of the story that he used to draw his conclusions remain true.

I suppose he meant "anti-war for the last 14 years" with regard to Rep Murtha's stand on war?

He was very pro war in 90/91. And he was all about dabbling in the Central/South American region during the Reagan admin.

So if I were a voter in PA, Id wonder just what does my good Representative Murtha stand for?

I have a question. So...someone (pick any reporter for any media outlet) reports something stinging about a member of the House or Congress, it is only because President Bush hired him or her to say that? Are you in agreement with me now regarding irresponsible journalism or is this just another way to burn the President in effegy? Just curious.

Again, why does a cyber news service need to affiliate itself with the government. How many news agencies do you know of that has that privilige other than CNSNews and the defunct Talon News that was ran by Jeff Gannon. At least Jeff Gannon had a more honorable career to fall back on when Talon bit the dust.

One may be as biased as they wish as long as they tell me the truth.

In my opinion, most news sources are biased, but if the story is untrue, please show me the proof.

What is left to adress Carpro, we know the reason why cyber news sources like CNSNews exists. Murtha had legitimate concerns about how the situation in Iraq is being handled and because he has adressed those concerns the attack dogs from the extremist right are doing their job by discrediting him in an effort to take the focus away from what really matters and that is recogniizing that a victory has been won in Iraq The only way the Bush administration will get the kind of victory that they want is to make Iraq totally submissive to the will of our President. That ain't gonna happen, it will only breed more hate and discontent. Bush has set wheels of democracy in motion and has gotten rid of Saddam, terrorism alone does not soley exist in Iraq and Iraq did not take down the Twin Towers in New York. Our soldiers cannot force the diverse types of people in Iraq to co-exist togethor, the Iraqi people need to sort that one out for themselves.

Let's see... the story is that Kerry and Murtha are cowards because they volunteered for combat duty and didn't get wounded bad enough.

And Bush is a hero for asking to never, ever, be sent overseas and for going AWOL, when his monthly weekend drill got to be too much for him.

I get it.

I wouldn't vote for Kerry. But Bush isn't fit to shine his shoes.

Here you go. Read it again. You didn't seem to get it the first time. It had nothing at all to do with Bush. Get over your fixation.

Murtha's War Hero Status Called Into Question
By Marc Morano and Randy Hall
CNSNews.com Staff
January 13, 2006

Read Article About Murtha's Links to Abscam

(CNSNews.com) - Having ascended to the national stage as one of the most vocal critics of President Bush's handling of the war in Iraq, Pennsylvania Democratic Congressman John Murtha has long downplayed the controversy and the bitterness surrounding the two Purple Hearts he was awarded for military service in Vietnam.

Murtha is a retired marine and was the first Vietnam combat veteran elected to Congress. Since 1967, there have been at least three different accounts of the injuries that purportedly earned Murtha his Purple Hearts. Those accounts also appear to conflict with the limited military records that are available, and Murtha has thus far refused to release his own military records.

A Cybercast News Service investigation also reveals that one of Murtha's former Democratic congressional colleagues and a fellow decorated Vietnam veteran, Don Bailey of Pennsylvania, alleges that Murtha admitted during an emotional conversation on the floor of the U.S. House in the early 1980s that he did not deserve his Purple Hearts.

"[Murtha] is putting himself forward as some combat veteran with serious wounds and he's using that and it's dishonest and it's wrong," Bailey told Cybercast News Service on Jan. 9. Murtha served in the Marines on active duty and in the reserves from 1952 until his retirement as a colonel in 1990. He volunteered for service in Vietnam and was a First Marine Regiment intelligence officer in 1966 and 1967.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on May 12, 2002, reported that "Marine Corps casualty records show that Murtha was injured in 'hostile' actions near Danang, Vietnam, on March 22, 1967, and May 7, 1967.

"In the first incident, his right cheek was lacerated, and in the second, he was lacerated above his left eye. Neither injury required evacuation," the Post-Gazette reported.

But an Oct. 26, 1994, article in the Herald-Standard quoted Murtha as describing two different injuries.

"I was wounded in the arm with shrapnel from a bullet that hit the motor mount of a helicopter. In the other, my knee was banged up and my arm was banged up when a helicopter was shot down from a very few feet," Murtha told the Herald-Standard.

SNIP

A June 1, 1967 report in the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat quoted a letter that the newspaper indicated was sent by Murtha to his wife that same year. The letter apparently detailed yet another version of how Murtha qualified for one of his Purple Hearts. According to the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat, Murtha's injuries involved his being "struck in the ankle" by a "shot that ricocheted off the helicopter."

SNIP

'He's a phony and a liar'

Bailey said during the time Murtha was being investigated for his role in the Abscam FBI sting in 1980, Murtha made a confession on the House floor.

Carpro what you are getting out of the story on Murtha is dirt, my perspective is different and it has been explained. As I said before this is what the Bush administration does when they want a problem child taken care of , they attack that persons character via CNSNews.

BiR,.....when the Belafonte calls Bush a terrorist, and Louis Farrakhan alleges that hemurdered poor blacks, and your party leaders are holding hands with them, the words "phony" & "liar" don't seem so bad.

But for me, right now, I think that Murtha served, was honorably discharged, and that's where I'll leave it.

If you believe this, then you obviously didn't even go to the link at MediaMatters. If you had actually gone there, you would see that they provided the proof. It's right there in the body of the article, carpro. It's there regardless of whether or not you choose to acknowledge it.

First of all, Hey Curtis. I hope that this reply finds you doing well.

Secondly, I am not an Democrat.

Murtha did more than that: he served on the battlefield. He wasn't simply in the reserves, he didn't run to another country, and he didn't file for one or more deferments, he actually went into battle. I tried to ascertain whether or not Brent Bozell served, but could not seem to find anything.

A sincere hope that God is showering you and your wonderful family with His Blessings,

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/01/18/opinion/lynch/main1217764.shtml
From an opinion by Dotty Lynch from the CBS News site
Their reporters are credentialed to cover the U.S. Congress, the State Department, the Pentagon, the European Parliament and the Israeli Knesset. They say they haven't tried to get a "hard pass" for the White House lately, but can get access via day passes.
CNSNews claims an affiliation with these Government agencies. The meaning of affiliation can be stated as thus;
1 a : to bring or receive into close connection as a member or branch b : to associate as a member <affiliates herself with the local club>
2 : to trace the origin of
intransitive senses : to connect or associate oneself : COMBINE
- af·fil·i·a·tion /-"fI-lE-'A-sh&n/ noun
Claiming affilition is a pretty stong term suggesting that even they may be an intricate part of these Government agencies.Armstrong Williams had a close afiliation with the the Dept. of Education and was paid with our tax dollars to promote No Child Left Behind during the course of his broadcasts. I would hope that our tax dollars are not being donated to CNSNews to promote a smear campaign against Jack Murtha , it is very suspicious.
