But Squire, one could equally argue that they elected her to do a job and she's NOT doing it.

Was she elected to not issue marriage licenses to anyone?

Which is an interesting take, imho.

It would be interesting to see how this line of argumentation works out. There is a significant amount of historical criticism that can be leveled, and rightly so, at the process by which our leaders have established SSM as the "law of the land." Almost unlike any other social movement in recent memory, SSM came to be through a process of legal wrangling and not through the legislative or referendum based affirmation. Even much of the civil rights movement from the middle part of last century came about through legislation that was then reinforced by the judicial process. For SSM the whole process has been different.

That said, I stand by my position that she should uphold the laws she has sworn the protect. Her oath of office is a principal issue here too. Maybe I'll start a thread on that.

(I offer this entire post in an amicable voice hope to promulgate conversation and not be condemning in tone.) :)

Presumably that was her belief when she took the job, so it is decided during her time on the job that she must now violate her beliefs, whereas that was not required of her before. It's like having to live with tapeworms.

Are those people saved? Or do they just look down their noses. Personally I would use the scripture about the woman about to be stoned and Jesus tells them its all right to throw that stone providing you are without sin....that should prove a point

Of which I fully concur. Of course doing so mostly likely result in the punishment of the state. This is when our faith costs something. Not that we are justified by works, but that living out our faith during times of tyranny will be be accompanied by suffering and persecution.

I agree and we need to understand also that just because the government has deemed it wrong or unlawful does not mean God sees it that way.
