Yes, you've got the righ one. In fact one of our former pastors was the pastor at Broadview for a number of years. He is in St. Louis now.

The same sort of confusion occurs the other way round, with Anglican churches called "St John the Baptist Church" :)

She was Queen of England and Scotland, after the two Jameses. For more, go to: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/historic_figures/anne_queen.shtml
Why a baptist church would choose to name itself after her is a mystery to me, though, unless the church building is in "Queen Anne Street" or "Queen Anne Road", of course.

    Brother Lamb,
I just noticed the name of your church "Foxhole Grace" and thought that alot of people have found grace in the foxhole, including me!

I have a friend who is a minister in the Refomed Episcoipal Church. He was invited to speak at Liberty Baptist College some time ago. As he started, he asked the students to raise their hands if they had their Episcopal Bible with them. He then mentioned that King James was Church of England - the Americian version of hte Episcopal Church.!:1_grouphug:

How about this one for a church name, located in my own county, although the name doesn't say Baptist. It's been around a while. ;)

    The sign reads:

    The Church of Jesus Christ

    Organized 32 A.D. at Jerusalem

Well, nothing like claiming a long history, I guess!

King James Baptist Church... at least you don't have any doubt what they are worshipping...[IMG]

There's a church in a small town nearby... Corinth Baptist. Yeah, poor choice of name.

I go to Ridgeview Baptist. Sits facing one of the ridges that runs through my town. There is very little doubt where the name came from. ;)

Out in the sticks there is a good one... Boanerges Baptist. I'd be a little wary with a name like that.

I really favor descriptive names for Churches.
By descriptive I mean like here in town there is the Kirklin Christian Church.
    It is to the point.
I have seen another "King James Bible Church" where they said the reason is they wanted to get away from any man centered connotations in there name! Ummm...can some one inform them that King James was a man?

If you asked, they would probably reply, "What's that?"

Praise God! Am I correct in thinking your "foxhole" was a protective shelter used by the armed forces? In the case of our church, "Foxhole" is the name of the part of part of the town of Paignton. Perhaps years ago the area was renowned for foxes. Please pray that many (people, not foxes!) will find grace in our "Foxhole", too. At present, most people who live here seem just apathetic towards the gospel.

What a great request. Just across the Irish Sea we have the exact same dilemma.
