The routine of politicians making wagers on big sporting events is nothing new.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and California Governor Jerry Brown have made a wager on the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals that may be the worst one ever.

If the L.A. Kings win, Cuomo has pledged local pastries, produce, wines and fresh seafood. Included in the bounty: hot Italian sausages, Long Island oysters, pure maple syrup from Clinton County’s Parker Family Maple Farm, red-velvet cupcakes from Harlem bakery 'Make My Cake' and Fishkill Farms apples.

If the Rangers win, Brown has countered with an offer of organic brown rice cakes, lightly salted, and a book (“California: A History” by Kevin Starr).

    Lightly salted rice cakes? SERIOUSLY??!!

Two peas. One pod. This is what happens when idiots are left without adult supervision.

I'm more upset about Cuomo having the nerve to offer a New York wine as part of the bet. Wine from New York? It's kinda like Grain Belt Beer -- btw, that's from good ole Minnesota, and it is absolutely the worst in the world. So are New York wines.

When Brown actually serves that at a state dinner, it'll be a valid counteroffer. Until then, it's just liberal posturing.

Lay off the Thunderbird, MD 20/20 and Ripple and you would discover New York has some excellent wines. :tongue3: The Finger Lakes region is similar to the Rhine Valley in topography and has produced many award winning wines. Some of them even come with corks in the bottles!

That said, both governors are in the running for Dolt of the Year.

There is no comparison anywhere in the world to Columbia Valley wines, red or white, and the red blends of eastern Missouri. Yes, I said eastern Missouri.
Amazing! A state that can't cork it's budget managed to figure out how to cork a bottle? What'd they do, go to St. James, Missouri, to discover how it's done?

Or governor ... whichever comes first.

You don't like Brain Melt beer? (Actually, it is pretty awful, but not the world's worst.)
